to assist with educational need of young people in a
timely manner so that young people in Australia are
equipped with basic life skills to make a living and to
live to their full potential. School has full autonomy to
identify students in need of help and request assis-

Committed $10,000. RC Bentleigh Moorabbin Central
committed $4000. We recently found out that a new Ro-
tary International rule requires 30% of Global Grant money
to come from International sources and that it had also
changed the Basic Literacy and Numeracy area of focus.
We have been unable to find more international support at
this stage and are running out of time. So that the many
hours put in by me, Fred Hofman and Chris Mara are not
entirely wasted, to keep faith with MITS and partner clubs
and to protect Rotary's reputation the Board, with District
encouragement, decided to move to a District Grant. This
means we are replacing a planned $3000 matching district
grant proposal for MITS next year, with the Furniture Pro-
ject. With additional Local Club support in the pipeline this
should reach around $30,000. All the clubs involved sup-
port the change and I have spoken with Ed Tudor at MITS
and he is delighted for the significant support Rotary will
be making.
Invitations to our Christmas Party on Thursday 19th De-
cember at VGC will be going out shortly.
Thanks to those Rotarians who helped run the BBQ at the
Beaumaris Art Show. My Secretary tells me it all went
well.
This week we are back at VGC and the Speaker is El-
speth Black on Pet Therapy
