EOM – throughout the module, students explore the concept of change and how it affects nature
and people they observe change through the cycle of the four seasons – winter, spring, summer
and fall –and they investigate the causes of those changes. They zero in particularly on the
changes that occur from fall to winter. Students read a variety of informational and literary texts
to examine these seasonal differences, and how seasonal and other changes affect people,
animals, and plants, particularly in the fall.

For the EOM. Students contribute a paragraph to an informational text the whole class creates for
the school library. Their informative paragraph responds to the question of how changes in
weather impact plants or animals in fall.
