This week we are working
on vocabulary!
Vocabulary refers to all of
the words of our language. It
is important to reading
comprehension because
readers cannot understand
what they are reading
without understanding what
the majority of the words
mean. The four types of
vocabulary include listening,
speaking, reading and
writing.

VOCABULARY ACTIVITIES
Scrabble: this is a great
game to work on vocab in a
fun way at home
Eye Spy: give your child a list
of unfamiliar words to search
for in a book or text at
home. You can make it like
a game and award points to
them for things like longest
word or word with most
consonants and go over their
meanings
Word Pairs: give your child
words in pairs and have
them determine if the words
are the same, opposite, go
together or are unrelated
