How to Get Rid of Dark Armpits
Two Methods:Home RemediesMedical Remedies
If you've trashed all your tank tops and keep covered up because of dark armpits, you don't
have to stay that way. In this article, you'll learn both home-based and medical ways to restore
your underarm confidence.
Method 1 of 2: Home Remedies
Try a natural bleaching agent. The acidic, anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties in some
vegetables and fruits allow them to lighten the skin naturally. Potatoes, cucumbers and lemons
are three that can help eliminate dark skin under the arms.

 Potato - Thinly slice a potato and rub a slice on the dark area. Or, you can grate
some of the potato to release the "juice." Apply this juice to your underarms, let it dry 10 minutes
and rinse.
 Cucumber - Just as you did with the potato, you can rub cucumber slices on the
affected area or grate some of the cucumber and use the juice. You can go a step further and
add a few drops of lemon juice and some turmeric (enough to make a paste) to the cucumber
juice. Apply the paste, wait a half hour and wash off.
 Lemon - Rub a thick slice of lemon on the dark area; the fruit will remove dead
skin cells and lighten the skin. Follow-up by washing and, if necessary, applying moisturizer.
(With continued use, lemons can dry out the skin). Add a small amount of tumeric, plain yogurt
or honey to lemon juice to make a paste that can be left on for 10 minutes and then rinsed
clean.
 Egg oil - Gently massage egg oil on the dark area and leave on overnight; the
omega-3 in egg oil promote re-epithelisation (new skin cells) which make the skin smooth and
light. Wash in the morning with a pH balanced soap or body wash.

Moisturise. The single most important thing you can do to prevent or treat dark underarms is to
moisturize the area at least twice a day. Prefer to use natural moisturisers like aloe vera, lecithin
etc.

Exfoliate. Dark underarms may be caused by dead skin cells that have accumulated there, so
exfoliating can reduce the dark appearance of the skin.

 Sugar - Mix a cup of brown sugar with 3 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil. Apply to wet
skin for a minute or two during a shower or bath and rinse. Try using the mixture twice a week
when you bathe.
 Baking soda - Make a thick baking soda-and-water paste to use as a scrub.
After scrubbing, rinsing and drying the area, you can apply a dusting of baking powder to the
skin to give it a lighter appearance.
 Baking soda and rosewater - Make a somewhat thick paste of baking soda and
rose water. Apply to the underarm area, then wash off with warm water. Dry your arms. Do this
until you see lightening of armpits.
 Orange - Peel an orange and put the peels out in the sun to dry. Grind the peels
to form a powder and make a paste by adding rose water and milk. Scrub your underarms with
the paste for 10 to 15 minutes to remove dead skin cells and rinse with cold water.
 Pumice stone - Gently remove dead skin cells from under your arms with the
use of a pumice stone. This light-weight, abrasive volcanic rock is sold in drug stores and
beauty supply stores. Wet the stone thoroughly and gently scrub the underarm area.

Try a liquid treatment. Open your refrigerator or kitchen cupboard to find remedies that can not
only lighten dark underarms but make the skin softer and fresher

 Milk - It's the vitamins and fatty acids in milk that make it effective in lightening
dark skin. Create a paste of two tbsp. milk, one tsp. curd and one tbsp. flour. Apply to the skin,
let sit for 15 minutes and rinse with cold water. Skin should be softer and free of dead skin cells,
which will make the area look much lighter. You can get even better results with full fat milk
cream.
 Vinegar - For a lighter look and germ-free, sweet-smelling skin, mix vinegar with
rice flour to form a paste. Take a hot shower and then apply the paste to the underarms, let dry
for 10-15 minutes and rinse with warm water.
 Coconut oil - The Vitamin E in coconut oil can help lighten dark skin over time,
so for best results it should be used daily or every other day. Before bathing, massage the oil
into the skin for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse with a mild soap and lukewarm water. Another benefit
of coconut oil--it's a natural deodorant.
Make a whitening pack. If you're willing to commit to a frequent treatment regimen, you can try
a natural whitening pack made from gram flour (also known a chickpea flour). Mix the flour with
yogurt, lemon and a little turmeric to form a thick paste. Apply and leave in place for at least 30
minutes before rinsing with warm water. Apply this whitening paste daily for two weeks and then
three times a week to speed up the whitening effect.

Skip shaving and start waxing. Dark underarms may be caused by thick hair under the skin
due to shaving. Because waxing removes hair at the root, it may leave the area lighter and the
skin softer.

Skip deodorants. The strong antiperspirant chemicals of deodorants often darken underarms
by an inflammatory response. Very few people actually have a problem with body odor and most
do not need the widely advertised deodorants.

Wondering How To Get Rid Of Dark Under Arms? Try These 3 Natural Remedies
I've been shaving under my arms for almost two decades and the Dove commercials are
correct. I treat my underarms like shit; I don't exfoliate, I shave dry, and I certainly don't take any
precautions for things like UV radiation or harmful rays from the sun. One would think I hated
my underarms, but in my defense, I feel as if I have such a large area of body to cover in my
beauty regimen that clearly something has to suffer. My underarms may be the part of my body
that I pay the least attention to, but it's also the part of my body that is less likely to be seen by
the public ... or so I thought.
I'm sure you feel me on this example: You shower and get dressed, only to find out that it's
going to be a tad bit hotter than you expected. So, you ditch that shirt you're sure to get sweat
stains in for a tank top. Then, of course, you grab a razor to quickly dry shave before running
out the door. On one of these days, I caught my reflection and thought to myself, "Wait. ... I
definitely shaved today, right?" Right. It's just the dark coloring of my underarms from years of
shaving and never moisturizing that has given my pits a darker color than the rest of my body.
The worst part? The darkness will only deepen with time making it harder to fix.
Turns out, although more prominent in darker skinned ladies, the dark underarm drama is not
just specific to skin color. Loads of shavers out there are starting to fear that they'll have to stop
hailing cabs or limit elaborate dance moves if they don't get that underarm game under control.
Even Beyoncé is no stranger to the dark underarm plague! Fortunately, I've got it covered now
and these natural remedies will def up your confidence on the dance floor this summer.

Lemon Juice & Raw Honey

Mmmm, lemons. They freshen up tap water, act as a natural skin toner for your face, get rid of
hiccups AND lighten underarms like a BOSS. Each day, take a lemon wedge and rub onto your
underarms before bathing. Afterwards, use equal parts raw honey and lemon juice to put under
your arms. The raw honey is great at eliminating dark spots and is an antibacterial that has a
natural pH level of about 4.5 — something your underarms will thank you for in the long run by
getting smoother. Add a moisturizer after you've rinsed your paste off to protect your underarms
from UV radiation and keep that dryness at bay.
Potatoes
It seems that whenever I need one potato, I end up buying a dozen potatoes only to find them
months later growing horrifying eyes all over their once clear skin. Fortunately, these potatoes
that I've discovered in the back of my cabinet don't have to go in the trash. Instead, slice those
bad boys open for clear underarm skin. I recommend slicing the potato thick and rubbing
directly under your arms daily — ones that are a little juicy works best, since potato juice is a
natural skin lightener. Who'da thunk. Potatoes brighten dull skin and increase skin's elasticity for
smooth even skin tones. Do this daily for maximum results. Be sure to apply a moisturizer when
you are taking your pits out into the world or you'll be slicing potatoes for nothing.
Baking Soda
Now, this is my personal favorite method. I exfoliate my bikini line with baking soda to keep
razor burn at an ultimate low, and it works to lighten underarms as well by removing dead skin
cells.

Even though it is normal for women to sport some amount of facial fuzz, many find it annoying.
Here are some tips to help you reduce facial hair...

Add 30 grams of sugar to some lemon juice in a bowl of water. Mix well and apply it in the
direction of the hair growth. Leave this for 15 minutes and rinse. Repeat once a week.

The traditional mixture of gram flour, turmeric and curd is said to marginally reduce hair growth.
Apply this mixture on your face and rinse it once it dries.

A mixture of papaya and turmeric helps contain hair growth, and what's more, it also exfoliates
the skin. Massage the paste on your face for 15 minutes for best results.

Potato, a bleaching agent, when mixed with yellow lentil paste makes the hair colour lighter and
also helps remove unwanted facial hair. Apply and leave for 15 minutes before rinsing.

A banana-oatmeal scrub is simple, yet effective. Apply the paste for about 15 minutes and wash
off with water. Repeat this twice a week.
Method 3 of 4: Finding a Natural Remedy

1. Use a gelatin peel. You can make a gelatin face mask at home to remove unwanted
facial hair. All you need is a tablespoon of unflavored gelatin, 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk, 3 to 4
drops of lime juice or 1 to 2 drops of lavender essential oil.

 Mix the products together, then microwave them for about 15 seconds. Apply the
mixture to your face, and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, peel it off.
 Make sure you don't get the mixture near your eyebrows or eyes. When you peel
the mask off, you should find that unwanted facial hair (and blackheads) come off with it.

Make a lemon/orange or apricot/honey scrub. Fruit-based scrubs can help you remove
unwanted facial hair without the harshness of chemical products.

 For the lemon/orange peel scrub, mix together 1 teaspoon each of powdered
orange and lemon peel, ground almond, and oatmeal. Add 2 teaspoons of olive oil and 1
teaspoon of rose water. Mixing these items should create a paste. Put the paste on your face for
about 5-8 minutes. Rub the paste into your skin with small circular movements. Then rinse your
face with water. You will need to do this 2-3 times a week to see results.
 For the apricot scrub, grind half a cup of dried apricots in a blender until it's a
powder. Then add 1 teaspoon of honey. Apply to face for 5-10 minutes. Rub into skin with small
circular movements, and then rinse with lukewarm water. You also need to use this scrub 2-3
times a week to see any difference.

Make a paste with Tumeric. Tumeric has been used for a long time in India to improve the look
of the skin. You can make a homemade paste out of it. [5]

 All you need is 1 to 2 teaspoons of Tumeric, and milk or water. Mix them into a
paste. Put it on your face for 15 to 20 minutes. Let it dry. Then, wash it off with warm water.
 This paste will work best for people with fine facial hair. If the hair is denser, you
could add oatmeal to the paste.

Try an egg mask. Another natural remedy for removing facial hair can be made with eggs. You
need 1 egg white, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1/2 tablespoon of cornflour.

 Beat them together until it turns into a paste. Apply the paste to your face, and let
it dry. It will turn into a thin mask.
 Pull the mask off firmly, and you should see the hair come off with it.
Method 4 of 4: Preventing Facial Hair Growth

Drink spearmint tea. Spearmint tea affects the amount of male hormone in your body, so if you
drink it enough, you might see less facial hair growth.

Studies published in scientific journals like Phytotherapy Research have found
that women who drank spearmint tea reduced the amount of testosterone (male hormone)
flowing through their blood streams. This reduction in testosterone led to less unwanted hair
growth.

Consume 2 cups of spearmint teas for a minimum of 5 days per week. [6]
Use a hair growth inhibitor. Visit your dermatologist to get a prescription for a hair inhibitor.
Hair inhibitors are plant-based products that change the structure of hair follicles so that the hair
grows thin and soft and eventually it does not grow at all.

Apply the cream to the areas of your face where you want to reduce hair growth.
The cream will remain on your skin. Follow the instructions that accompany the product to
determine frequency of use.

Hair growth inhibitors can be used in conjunction with other hair reduction
methods such as threading, waxing and tweezing.

Results may take 4 to 6 months. It costs about $100 for a supply that will last you
two months. [7]

Although there's not much evidence of long-lasting effect, make a drink out of black
cohosh herb. This herb slows down facial hair growth. In addition to turning it into tea, you can
find it in capsule form. With any natural herbs, it's a good idea to check with your doctor first.

To make the tea, you need 20 grams of dry black cohosh root, 4 1/4 cups of
water, and a teaspoon of honey. Boil the water and root, and then let it simmer for 30 minutes.
Strain it.

Put the honey into the concoction. Drink three times a day. You will need to
refrigerate the liquid. Higher dosages of the tea can cause side effects, and it shouldn't be used
if you have liver disease or cancer, so it's best to see a doctor before you try this regimen.

Deal with hormones. Sometimes hair will grow more because of a hormone issue, such as
during menopause. This is a condition that should only be diagnosed by a doctor.

Sometimes doctors will prescribe birth control pills to help address such
issues. Some underlying medical conditions can cause facial hair growth, such as polycystic
ovary syndrome.

Eat foods with phytoestrogen. If you eat foods with this ingredient, it can help
cure an estrogen imbalance, although again you should check with a doctor. More estrogen can
slow down hair growth. [8] Licorice, alfalfa, fennel and flaxseeds are natural products that contain
phytoestrogen.

Basically, phytoestrogen mimics the role that estrogen plays in the body.

Tips To Prepare Homemade Bleaching Creams

In order to have a lighter complexion and to mask the presence of body and facial hair,
you can make use of many bleaching products that are commercially available.
However, owing to presence of the strong chemical ingredients in them, using these
products for a prolonged time is seen to cause damage to the skin and even to internal
organs like the liver. If you are searching for a safe alternative to commercial bleaching
agents, then you can try making homemade bleaching creams.
These creams, which are quite easy to make, are also found to be very effective in action.
Therefore, if you are interested in making homemade bleaching creamsof your own, then
you can very well try out the methods that are described below.
Honey and Almond Bleaching Cream
Bleaching of the skin can be achieved by using many natural products. To prepare a
natural bleach, you need to first soak half a cup of almonds in a bowl of water and leave
it overnight. The next day, de-skin the almonds, crush them thoroughly and mix with half
a cup of honey. The paste thus prepared, can be used as a facial bleach which is to be
washed off after 15 minutes of application.

The action of honey renders this paste with excellent bleaching properties. At the same
time, the presence of almonds in the homemade bleach causes dead skin removal, thus
helping with skin exfoliation.
Bleaching Cream With Sandalwood and Rosewater
Another effective homemade bleaching cream can be made by using sandalwood and
rosewater. This bleach can be prepared by mixing 3 tablespoons of sandalwood powder
to 2 teaspoons of rose water, so as to make a mixture which has a creamy consistency.
The bleach thus prepared is to be applied onto the face and is to be washed off with cold
water after 20 minutes. Regular use of this bleaching cream for at least a week will
provide you with amazing results.
Lemon Based Bleaching Creams
Lemon, which has strong natural bleaching properties is made use in preparing many
homemade bleaching creams. One such recipe for a lemon bleach suggests that you mix
together the juice of one lemon with a pinch of turmeric. Apply the bleach onto your face,
leave it for 20 minutes, and then wash off using warm water.
According to another recipe which is used for preparing a lemon based homemade
bleaching cream, one has to mix the juice of one lemon with 2 tablespoons of ground
oatmeal and half a teaspoon ofolive oil. Do keep on adding water until the mixture has
obtained a cream like consistency.
The paste thus prepared can be used both as a body bleach as well as a facial bleach.
After half an hour of application of the bleach, do wash off with warm water and pat dry
your skin with a towel. Since this bleach tends to dry out the skin, you should apply
generous amounts of skin moisturizing lotion, once the bleaching process is over.
Thus by using homemade bleaches, one can bring about skin lightening without
worrying about the occurrence of side effects. However, perform the bleaching process
with utmost care and do see to it that all the ingredients are used in the exact quantities
as suggested in the recipe, as failure to do so may lead to undesirable results.
