how many vehicles can be accommodated in a road segment, and in turn

determine the capacity in hour per lane, etc.

PCEF (Passenger Car Equivalent Factors) is also known Passenger

Car Unit (PCU) is a metric unit used in Transportation Engineering, to assess

traffic-flow rate on a highway. It is to assess the traffic-flow rate on a highway

or road.

Hence, as a solution to this problem, this study will be pursued, aimed

to collect data within a specific road segment to be considered in the

experiment to get the total number of vehicle per hour. In additional to this

study, we will identify each type of vehicle that passes through the identified

road segment.

Objectives of the Study

Generally, this study aims to develop a device that can count and

identify the vehicle type in a particular road segment.

Specifically, this study aims to:

1. collect data on vehicle type and count the same which can be used

for Passenger Car Equivalent Factors (PCEF) to assess traffic flow

on a particular highway; and

2. test the accuracy of the device in identifying and counting of

vehicles.
