INT. DEIGHTON'S DORM, ATLANTA, MORNING
(LF) DEIGHTON, a college-aged man, is going about his morning
routine, brushing his teeth, working with his hair, and
checking himself out in the mirror. He is disappointed.
(RF) The right side of the frame shows the rest of his room.
DEIGHTON enters this frame and pulls out an outfit. He
briefly glances at a WHITEBOARD, which reads: "Reasons to
Hangout with ROSE:" The list is empty.

EXT. TENNIS COURT, ATLANTA, NOON

(RF) The sky is blue.

(LF) The sun is shining.
(BF) Pan down to BOYS on the TENNIS COURT, all college-aged
and in athletic outfits.
(RF) DEIGHTON is playing a match.
(LF) SANDEEP, a college-aged boy, is playing against him.
(BF) The BALL is flying back and forth.
(BF) The RACKETS are hitting the ball.
(RF) DEIGHTON is smiling, clearly doing well. He looks over
at--
(LF) ROSE, looking artsy and peppy, is talking to DAVEY, a
handsome twenty-something college kid. Her dog, LATKA, is
with her. She looks over at DEIGHTON and waves.
(RF) DEIGHTON smiles and waves back.
(LF) The BALL flies through the air.
(RF) DEIGHTON turns suddenly, realizing his lapse in focus.
(FF) DEIGHTON has missed the BALL, which is bouncing past,
and he runs to go get it, while SANDEEP lightly gloats.
(LRF) DEIGHTON grabs the BALL.
(URF) DEIGHTON turns to look at ROSE.
(LF) ROSE, with LATKA, other boys, and DAVEY, is leaving the
court.
(RF) DEIGHTON looks sadly on. (LF cuts out).
 2.

INT. DEIGHTON'S DORM, ATLANTA, AFTERNOON

DEIGHTON is working on HOMEWORK.
(LF) Through the WINDOW behind him, LATKA can be seen
running. DEIGHTON looks up with supernatural timing, but
resumes working.

INT. ROSE'S DORM'S HALLWAY, ATLANTA, AFTERNOON

(RF) ROSE is running through the hallway.

INT. ROSE'S DORM, ATLANTA, AFTERNOON

(RF) ROSE slings her stuff onto a chair.
(RF) ROSE whips out her phone and starts dialing.

INT. DEIGHTON'S DORM, ATLANTA, AFTERNOON

(LF) DEIGHTON has been in the (LF) working this whole time.

INT. DEIGHTON'S DORM - DAVEY'S ROOM, ATLANTA, AFTERNOON

(LF) DAVEY picks up the phone, his screen cutting off
DEIGHTON's.
ROSE
(RF, Mouthed, panicked)
DAVEY, LATKA's gone!
DAVEY
(LF, Mouthed)
What?
ROSE
(RF, Mouthed)
She's gone! I don't know what to
do!
DAVEY
(LF, Mouthed)
Okay okay, it's gonna be fine,
don't worry. Do you have your
notepad?
(RF) ROSES's NOTEPAD is on her desk. She grabs it.
 3.

ROSE
(RF, Mouthed)
Yeah, I've got it.
DAVEY
(LF, Mouthed)
Okay, make a list of place to put
up flyers. We'll find LATKA in no
time.
(RF) ROSE begins writing places on the notepad, including:
BIG ROAD, CVS, COFFEE STORE, WHITEBOARD, and BATHROOM PLACE.

INT. LIBRARY, ATLANTA, NIGHT

(LF) ROSE enters the LIBRARY.
(RF) POSTERS come out of the printer.
(LF) ROSE grabs the POSTERS.
(RF) ROSE exits through the front doors of the library with
lots of energy.

EXT. CVS, ATLANTA, MORNING

(FF) ROSE, with less energy than before, but still filled
with determination, is taping a POSTER to the CVS exterior.
(LF) She reaches into her PACK for some TAPE.
(RF) A CVS EMPLOYEE, college-age, male, pops his head outside
of the building.
CVS EMPLOYEE
(RF, Shouting and
gesturing)
Hey! You can't put signs there!
ROSE
(LF, Looking back at him,
then at the poster, before
taking it down)
Oh. Alright.
(FF) ROSE watches the CVS EMPLOYEE re-enter the building. He
eyes her back before the doors close behind him.
(RF) ROSE quickly turns to the wall, finishes taping up the
POSTER, and dashes off.
(RF) The POSTER remains on screen, LATKA pictured.
 4.

(LF) On the other side of the CVS, DEIGHTON, a twenty-

something man, watches ROSE exit, and then turns to continue
reading another POSTER

EXT. CLIFTON RD., ATLANTA, MID-MORNING

(FF) Clifton Rd. is plastered with POSTERS, many on the
sidewalk leading up to the camera.
(BF/LF) ROSE stands up, entering the frame with tape and
posters in hand.
(RF pans, LF remains still on ROSE) DEIGHTON, across the
street, is moving towards ROSE with a POSTER in his hand. He
approaches her. There are posters stapled to the garden
plants behind him. ROSE stares at DEIGHTON. DEIGHTON holds up
the POSTER, indicating he could help. ROSE is intrigued and
considers it.
(LF. RF still on DEIGHTON) ROSE pulls out her NOTEPAD from
her pack.
(LF) The NOTEPAD reads: "Priorities: 1. FIND LATKA / 2.
KEGELS / 3. DON'T ACCEPT HELP"
(LF) ROSE continues considering
(LF) ROSE pulls out a PEN, circling "FIND LATKA" and crossing
out "DON'T ACCEPT HELP".
(BF) The two leave the frame off the right in succession.

EXT. LIBRARY, ATLANTA, MID-MORNING

(BF) ROSE offers POSTERS to PASSERBY on the left. DEIGHTON
offers POSTERS to PASSERBY on the RIGHT.

INT. DEIGHTON'S DORM, ATLANTA, MID-MORNING

(BF) ROSE and DEIGHTON tape up POSTERS on opposite sides of
the hallway

INT. EBRIK CAFE, ATLANTA, NOON

(BF) ROSE and DEIGHTON, wearing different outfits to show
time has passed, sit at opposite sides of a table, staring
out a window, stacks of POSTERS on the table.
 5.

EXT. MSC FOREST, ATLANTA, NOON

(LF) ROSE, in a different outfit, is looking around for
LATKA.

(RF) DEIGHTON, also in a different outfit, is looking around

for LATKA.
(BF) They cross gazes, and the frame fades into a (FF).

INT. STARBUCKS, ATLANTA, NOON

(FF) ROSE and DEIGHTON are enjoying coffee together in
STARBUCKS.
(FF) DEIGHTON is looking at ROSE with love in his eyes.
(FF) ROSE is not disinterested, although not as mushy as
DEIGHTON. She is warming up to him. She is calm.
(FF) Together they continue drinking their coffee.
(RF) Suddenly ROSE's PHONE rings from inside her PACK.
(LF) ROSE looks down, grabs the phone, and excuses herself.
(RF) The phone is grabbed out of the bag by ROSE
(LF) ROSE enters a separate part of the STARBUCKS, taking the
call

INT. DEIGHTON'S DORM - DAVEY'S ROOM, ATLANTA, NOON

(RF) DAVEY is on the phone with ROSE

INT. STARBUCKS, ATLANTA, NOON

(LF) ROSE mentions DEIGHTON's name.
(CF) DEIGHTON is sipping coffee. In the window behind him,
LATKA runs past. He looks up with a supernatural sense, and
this time turns. He sees LATKA and rushes out of the cafe. In
the window, he can be seen chasing after LATKA.

INT. DEIGHTON'S DORM - DAVEY'S ROOM, ATLANTA, NOON

(RF) DAVEY smiles and then says goodbye before hanging up the
phone.
 6.

INT. STARBUCKS, ATLANTA, NOON

(LF) ROSE hangs up the phone.
(ULF) ROSE walks back to the table, (URF) where DEIGHTON is
gone. (LRF) She is visibly confused.

EXT. CLIFTON RD., ATLANTA, NOON

(LF) DEIGHTON is CHASING LATKA down the road, past the
earlier POSTERS.
(RF) LATKA is running from DEIGHTON.

EXT. EMORY HOSPITAL, ATLANTA, NOON

(RF) DEIGHTON IS CHASING LATKA in the opposite direction now
(ULF) LATKA runs up steps.
(LLF) DEIGHTON runs up the same steps.

EXT. STONE STEPS, ATLANTA, EVENING

(LF) LATKA has to choose whether to run right or left,
choosing left.
(RF) DEIGHTON also chooses left.
(BF) DEIGHTON corners LATKA, bear-hugging him.

EXT. STARBUCKS, ATLANTA, LATE EVENING

(FF) DEIGHTON, leading LATKA, has shown back up to the
STARBUCKS. ROSE is nowhere to be seen. DEIGHTON sighs and
starts walking away.

INT. DEIGHTON'S DORM, ATLANTA, NIGHT

(UF) DEIGHTON crashes back inside his DORM. (LF) LATKA is
moving around on the floor.
(FF) DEIGHTON grabs his phone and begins to dial ROSE's
NUMBER. But then, DEIGHTON notices the WHITEBOARD.
(FF) DEIGHTON reconsiders, putting the phone back in his
pocket. The (LF) border encloses him, and LATKA disappears
with the rest of the (RF).
 7.

INT. STARBUCKS, ATLANTA, MID-MORNING

(FF) ROSE, on the right side of the table, alone, is reading
her NOTEPAD.
(FF) She looks at her NOTES, flipping through them. Most
pages have some for of "DON'T ACCEPT HELP" on them. She rests
on her current page, before flipping to a new one, and
writing "LEARN TO 'OPEN UP'" as number 2, after "FIND LATKA".
(FF) DEIGHTON enters the frame, with two COFFEES, and sets
one down for ROSE. ROSE smiles lightly at him and puts her
NOTEPAD away. She begins to sip her coffee as DEIGHTON pulls
out his laptop and types.

INT. DEIGHTON'S DORM - HALLWAY, ATLANTA, MID-MORNING

(FF) DAVEY walks to his room, passing DEIGHTON's ROOM. As he
passes it--

INT. DEIGHTON'S DORM - DEIGHTON'S ROOM, ATLANTA, MID-MORNING

(FF) LATKA jumps in the room, pawing at the door.

INT. DEIGHTON'S DORM - HALLWAY, ATLANTA, MID-MORNING

(FF) DAVEY pauses, then knocks on the door.
(FF) DAVEY puts his ear to the door. He hears something
(FF) DAVEY runs down the hallway, and exits.

EXT. DEIGHTON'S DORM, ATLANTA, MID-MORNING

(FF) DAVEY rounds the corner of the DORM, and peers through a
first-floor WINDOW.

INT. DEIGHTON'S DORM - DEIGHTON'S ROOM, ATLANTA, MID-MORNING

LATKA runs over to the WINDOW and begins jumping.

EXT. DEIGHTON'S DORM, ATLANTA, MID-MORNING

DAVEY, shocked, pulls out his phone and begins dialing.
 8.

INT. STARBUCKS, ATLANTA, MID-MORNING

(FF) ROSE and DEIGHTON continue sipping their COFFEE. ROSE
gets a phone call and goes over to pick it up. DEIGHTON
watches her.
(FF) ROSE puts the phone to her ear.
(FF) ROSE contorts her face. The frame splits from (FF) to
(BF). ROSE rushes out of the Starbucks. DEIGHTON follows her
in succession.

EXT. STARBUCKS, ATLANTA, MID-MORNING

(BF) DEIGHTON calls after ROSE.
(BF) ROSE splashes her COFFEE on DEIGHTON. DEIGHTON crumples.
