Announcement

Dear students

Very welcome to the University of the Armed Forces ESPE. This intructional material is intended for all the
students, who have decided to sudy at the Distance Learning Mode, in order to be informed about the
different sections that the virtual platform has and how to use them.

The virtul classroom has a radical importance because this is the space where the learning process takes place,
that is, this is where teachers and learners will interact through a variety of activities.

In addition, you must take into consideration some important information about the “Reglamento de
Estudiantes” that has been added to this document.

Once you get to know of all these tools, how they work, and read the articles taken from the “Reglamento
de Estudiantes”, you will be more confident to start the semester.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF THE VIRTUAL CLASSROOM

At the moment you log into the virtual classroom, you will find and indentify the following essential content:

 Announcements
 Calendar
 Presentation
 News
 Program
 Sites
 Files
 Forums

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Announcemets section is a tool which allows the teacher to publish important information in the virtual
classroom.

To read details of the announcements, you must:

 Click on the Announcements section, and then, a new screen will appear showing you the
information.

 
 

CALENDAR

The Calendar is a tool to publish regularly information of the planned dates of the different activities and
events of the course (forums, tests, exams, and among others).

To read details of the events scheduled in the calendar, you must:

 Click on the Calendar section, as shown below, and then, a new screen will appear showing you the
activities to be done. Choose one of them and click on it in order to learn more about it.

PRESENTATION

In the Presentation section, you will find specific issues of the subject.
PROGRAM

The Program section contains the online assignments that students have to do during the semester. This option
consists of two periods: First Period and Second Period. Each period has the following online activities:
online tests and online guides.
To access the online assignments, you must:

 Click on the Program section and immediately, on the new screen, you will find First Period and
Second Period.
 Click on one of them, according to the period that you are taking, in order to see the kind of activities
which students have to participate.

FILES
The Files section offers the possibility of uploading/downloading files and provides students with information
(articles to read, summaries, exercises, etc.) needed to fulfill their activities.

To access the files, you must:

 Click on the Files section and immediately, on the new screen, you will find First Period and
Second Period.
 Click on one of them, according to the period that you are taking, in order to see and check the files.

SITES
The Sites section can integrate and embed content from outside sources such as videos, images, presentations,
maps, among others which are used by students in the learning process.

To access the sites, you must:

 Click on the Sites section and immediately, on the new screen, you will find First Period and
Second Period.
 Click on one of them, according to the period that you are taking, in order to see and check the sites.

FORUM
The Forum section is a discussion site where students and teachers can interact with conversations by means
of posted messages.

There are two types of forums in the virtual classroom: Forum of Discussion and Inquiry Forum.

FORUM OF DISCUSSION

It allows students to share their own points of view about specific topics, and also reply to other participants’
opinions.

To access the forum of discussion, you must:

 Click on the Forum section and immediately, on the new screen, you will find First Period and
Second Period.
 Click on one of them, according to the period that you are taking, in order to see the topic and
participate in the debate raised by the teacher.

INQUIRY FORUM

It has been intended for students, as a meeting point, in order to ask for information about some doubts or
concerns that students may encounter in their learning process.

To access the inquiry forum, you must:

 Click on the Forum section and immediately, on the new screen, you will find Inquiry Forum.
 Click on it in order to ask your questions about your doubts.

CONTACTS

In the Contacts section you will find the list of your mates in the virtual classroom, the name of the assigned
tutor and also the names of the coordinators and monitors assigned by the Distance Education Unit. If you
would like to send an individual or group email, you can do it using this section.
WEBMAIL

In the Webmail section, you will find the emails you have sent and received.

The students have the obligation to read the “Reglamento de Estudiantes” and above all, to review from
article 102 to article 119.

The students must also consider the following:

Art. 112.- Guías de estudio iguales.- Cuando se detectare que dos o más guías de estudio tuvieren igual
contenido, se impondrá la calificación de cero sobre veinte, sin perjuicio de la sanción establecida en el Art.
89, lit. c, de este Reglamento. Si uno de los estudiantes se sintiera perjudicado, realizará los trámites
pertinentes de acuerdo a los Artículos 100 y 101 del presente Reglamento.

Art. 113.- Derecho a tutorías.- Los estudiantes podrán solicitar que los profesores de las asignaturas que se
encuentran cursando, les proporcionen tutoría para el desarrollo de sus guías de estudio, ya sea, por vía
telefónica, correo electrónico, en forma presencial u otros medios, de acuerdo al horario de tutorías
establecido por los Directores de Departamento.

Art. 117.- Fraude en pruebas presenciales o virtuales.- Los estudiantes que fueren sorprendidos realizando
fraude durante las pruebas presenciales o virtuales, serán suspendidos de las mismas; la calificación será de
cero sobre veinte y se sujetarán a lo establecido en este Reglamento.
It is considered to be fraud when students:

a. Help or get help from their partners;


b. Are provided beforehand with answer keys of tests;
c. Were impersonated or attempt to be impersonated by any person at test time;
d. Impersonate any person at test time;
e. Do the test using unauthorized means or resources.
