(3 units) Ethics 1N – Health Ethics with HIV/AIDS This interdisciplinary course will explore interconnections among ethics, law and health care by examining classic legal-medical ethics cases, legal rules and ethical principles, controversial issues such as access to health care, beginning of life issues, patients’ rights, end-of-life issues, disorders of consciousness, HIV/AIDS issues and organ transplantation. Special attention will be given to ethical conflicts, as well as the roles of ethics consultants and ethics committees. (3 units) SocSci 2N –Sociology-Anthropology The nature of human society and culture; social structure and non-literate societies particularly with respect to their kinship systems.(3 units) Eco 3 – Health Economics with TAR This course deals with the basic principles and concepts in Economics designed to analyze problems and situations of our nation’s economy and health. The subject presents topics as Market structure, Investment, inflation, deflation, and other terms shall be defined. The course is designed to focus on health and illness across the lifespan of clients, population groups with acute and chronic psycho-social difficulties and psychiatric illnesses. This is a continuation of NCM 102 and 103. 16 units (8 hours lecture, 8 hours RLE) NCM 105 – Nursing Management and Leadership This course deals with the concepts, principles, theories and methods of developing nursing leaders and managers in the hospital and community-based settings. It also includes ethico-moral/legal aspects of health care and nursing practice and the nurses’ responsibilities for personal and professional growth. 16 units ( 8 units lecture, 8 units RLE) N1 – Drug Solution with Pharmacology Introduces the science of pharmacology and considers the role of the registered nurse in the preparation, management and administration of medications. The course provides a working description of the principles of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics and identifies the role of nerve pathways in the action of drugs. An emphasis on understanding the action of medications, safe administration practices and competence in drug calculations is made.
