Justice System, Is It Just?

The criminal justice system is a legal process adapted by a civilized society in the
prevention and solution of crimes which is carried on through investigation and the persons
suspected thereof is taken into legal custody, prosecuted in a court of law, and punished if found
guilty, or acquitted if found innocent, provision being made for his/her correction and
rehabilitation.
We all know that the purpose of the Criminal Justice System is to deliver justice for all, by
convicting and punishing the guilty and helping them to stop offending, while protecting the
innocent. In the Philippines, the regular courts engage in the administration of justice is organized
into four levels. Supreme court (SC) and court of appeals (CA) under the review court and regional
trial court (RTC) and metropolitan TC MTCC MCTC under the trial courts. There are a number
of critical people in any court setting but are they really being given the justice that they are
seeking?
From what I have read from some of the articles, the Philippines has one of the slowest
justice system in the world. I think if I didn’t care about our country that much then I wouldn’t
have even noticed that. But as I am knowing more about some ‘things’ about our country,
especially with our government, I think it is a broken justice system. Letting people run as part of
the government is not bad. But people who were accused in the past, did something wrong and
made some bad activities, letting them run again as part of our government? Isn’t it just crazy?
What I mean is that don’t we still know what they are capable of doing? Aren’t we still satisfied
for what they did in the past? Those who are responsible for letting them should care more about
our justice system. Don’t make the same mistakes that we did in the past. An anonymous person
said, “We have seen it happen before- judges bend the rules, make exceptions and interpret the
law in a manner that suits the agenda of the person they are trying to please.” So will you be one
of the people who are trying to fix the broken justice system in the Philippines?
