Title: “Different organ system of a frog”

Name: Capela, Mary Leizl M. & Alyssa Nicole Rioteta

Research question:

Table 1 question: What are the organ systems found in a frog?

Table 2 question: How the organs of a frog function?

Science Content Statement:

Inside the body cavity of a frog, there are many organ systems present such as the circulatory
system, digestive system, respiratory system, nervous system, excretory system and reproductive
system. The organs are liver, heart, kidney, gallbladder, stomach, pancreas, spleen, large and small
intestine. All the organs and organ systems are well developed with specific functions.

Hypothesis

The following hypothesis was considered by the experimenter based on the experiment stated in this
study.

There is a significant relationship between the human body and frog anatomy. If we cut down
the frog and cut the open in the appropriate way, then we will be able to take out the organs and
identify them and to connect the relationship of the human body to a frog.

Procedure

1. Find a frog

2. Prepare materials needed in the experiment like:

Nail, plywood, hammer, gloves, dissect blade, newspaper and lab gown

3. Make sure that the frog is still alive

4. Pin the frog into the plywood

5. Cut the skin of the frog from the upper part up to the lower part then cut the skin horizontally twice
until all of the muscle is visible

6. cut it in the same procedure until all the organs of the frog is visible

7. Identify the parts of the organ

8. Cut the different parts of the organ until the spinal cord becomes bold

9. Place it into the bond paper

10. Lastly, take some pictures of the different parts of the organs for documentation
Result and Discussion

The organs of frog are similar to the organs of human but they have also similarities. Humans
has bigger organs while frog has smaller. All the different organ system has its own parts and connected
to each other and the organs has its own functions as well. Dissecting a frog will gain knowledge and
how the other creatures function and how it developed in that way.

Organ System Identified Organ and how it functioned

Muscular System Circulatory System

• Heart - Pumping organ of the circulatory system

(has 3 chambers).
• Stomach - Stores food and mixes it with enzymes
to begin digestion.
• Small Intestine - The principal organ of digestion
and absorption of digested food.
• Gall Bladder - Sac which stores bile.
• Large Intestine - Posterior organ of the digestive
Skeletal System Digestive System system which stores undigested food.
• Liver - Secretes bile and processes digested food
molecules
• Urinary Bladder - The organ that collects and
stores urine until released.
• Fat Bodies - Masses of fat in the body cavities of
frogs. Needed for hibernating and mating
• Spleen - Organ in the frog’s circulatory system that
makes, stores, and destroys blood cells.

Conclusion

The anatomy of the frog has similarities in the anatomy of a human but some of the organs of
human are much bigger however, their organ system is quite different. It is smaller version. Through
dissection, we can gain a better understanding of how the human body is set up.
