maintenance of hatch covers for your ship for a period of 1 year.

Answer
The maintenance of hatch cover is we need to check the hatch cover tightness by
do the hose test every month if there is any leakage of the hatch cover we check
the rubber of the hatch cover, change the rubber which has bad condition. Check
the hatch cover if there is any rust we must chipping, grinding, and then painting
the spot. We also need to check the hatch cover quick-acting cleat greasing the
cleat bolt every month, and check the hydraulics piston, we grease it every
month.

 First wash down the cargo hold bilge by Sea water and fresh water
 After wash down, pump out the cargo hold bilge to make it dry.
 Clean the cargo hold bilge.
 Repaint the cargo hold bilge

If we can’t pump out the portside bilge in hold no 3 portside we need to move the water
first to the other bilge so we can check the non return valve of the bilge if there’s any
unusual condition we need to repair it.

Below are the checklist items that need to check prior to enter the fore peak tank :

 Open the fore peak tank manhole, we need to open 2 manhole,


 Put one blower for air circulation, leave with blower with several hours,
 Don’t forget to put the stanchions and “ENCLOSED SPACE” sign
 Put cargo light
 After we left the manhole with blower we can check the oxygen level with gas
detector, if the oxygen level between 19%-21% it means the oxygen inside the tank
good.
 Prepare the breathing apparatus in case of emergency situation
 At least one man stand by near the manhole to check the oxygen level
continuously.

For wheat we didn’t require any ventilation, just keep the cargo hold tight and make
sure there is no water going inside the hold. For ore we need to maintain the ventilation
every day, and check the gas inside the cargo hold if the temprature high we need to
open the vent.

the hatch cover to make a air circulation inside the cargohold.

 Avoid discharge at port or in shallow waters whenever possible


 Exchange in deep open areas or open seas, preferably in water depth
of 2000 m or more
 When transt doesn’t allow exchange in depth of 2000m or more
exchange clear of coastal
 Take care to flush ballast tank, chain locker, or other locations where
silt may accumulate and to dislodge and remove sediment
 If ballast is suspected containing sediment, flush the tank more than
once before refilling or entering port.ideally strip and refill as open to
purging
 If in doubt about the sediment disposal in port. Inquire local agent

is prone to pilferage and pirates. Explain the precautions you would take.

Answer

Before arrival on anchorage point we need to prepare fire hose around the ship to
prevent the pirates come on board. and prepare cargo light around the ships hull as
much as you can so we can see around the hull at night. Prepare a dummy doll on
foreward and aft. While on deck watching at anchorage point check condition and
situation around the ship regularly, and report every condition and situation around the
ship. If there is any suspicious ship approaching report to the bridge and monitor her
movement.

i). Crane that will have a small diameter wire rope for runner will be crane that using gun
tackle, because this system put the stress on the wire less by giving longer wire so, it is
not going straight to the weight but it going around the crane first then to the weight.

ii). Crane that will have fitted a longer runner wire will be crane that using gun tackle
because this system caused the runner wire have to go around the crane first then go
for the weight.
