Sea-Salt Lab Report

Introduction
Sea-salt production is important because sea-salt is good
for your health and reduces the chance of heart disease.

Sea-salt reduces inflammation by bringing specific

minerals to boost its immunity and improves
cardiovascular health.

We evaporated ocean water by mixing it with sand, taking

out the sand, and boiling the water.

Materials
-Ring Stand
-Small Beaker
-Larger Beaker
-20 mL ocean water
-Paper Towel
-Funnel
-Pinch of Sand
-Scale
Method
1: Create and wet a paper-towel filter; place in funnel on
ring stand
2:Obtain 20mL ocean water and 1 pinch of sand in the
larger beaker
3:weigh smaller beaker
4:swirl sandy water and filter into the smaller beaker
5:Boil filtered ocean water to dryness; weigh dry (salty)
beaker without water

Results
The water started to heat up and boil and in some time it
started to evaporate and turn into gas.

It has left some sort of white things which was probably all
the sea salt that was in the water but there wasn’t much.

Item Weight
Small Beaker 30.6g
Small Beaker w/ water 47.3g
Small beaker after water 31.20g
Salt .60g
Salt water 16.7g
No because the when boiling water, the molecules move
really fast and disrupt crystalline structure from forming.
3.6% of the oceans water is salt because .60/16.7 is
0.03592814371 and if you round that up you get 0.036
and in percent its 3.6%.
