Writing an impressive resume and application letter will help an aspiring applicant to get ac-
cepted for his preferred job. To write an effective resume and application letter, one should follow
the basic guidelines for writing these important documents. These guidelines include choosing from
the standard formats: block, indented, and modified block. Similarly, office correspondence or business
letters should be written according to the standard format, purpose and content. The commonly
used business letters that professionals write in communicating with each other are letters of inquiry,
request, acknowledgement, complaint, apology, recommendation, and resignation. Effective use of these office
correspondences will ensure smooth business transactions, administrative operations, and internal and
external communications.
