This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to create systems and process to organise
information and prioritise tasks. It applies to individuals working in managerial positions who have
excellent organisational skills. The work ethic of individuals in this role has a significant impact on the
work culture and patterns of behaviour of others as managers at this level are role models in their
work environment.

ASSESSMENT INFORMATION:
To be deemed competent for this unit of competency, you are required to satisfactorily complete two
(2) assessment tasks:

 Assessment Task 1: Manage personal work priorities


 Assessment Task 2: Develop and maintain professional competence

Assessment Instructions

Your assessment will be required to be typed in Arial font size 12 only. You will provide your
completed assessment for all of questions in one document and MUST be uploaded into MOODLE
(No other method of submission will be accepted).

You are required to professionally format your document including spell-check and indicating each
Task answer [e.g. Task 1 (a.) then the answer, Task 1 (b.) then the answer etc.] according to this
Assignment requirement. You may lose marks if you have not spell-checked your document (as this is
a professional formatting requirement, a business skill).

This assessment can be completed in one of several ways. Assessment candidates may identify unit
requirement within their own work environment or organisation, or with reference to a scenario
provided by the trainer/assessor.

How to upload your answered assessment into MOODLE

To upload your assignment into Moodle, follow these steps.

1. Log-in to Moodle and access the subject that you will be submitting the assignment in.
2. Locate the assessment you will be uploading into by scrolling down to the week that the
assessment is due in and then click on the assessment submission link.
3. Click on the name of the assignment.
4. Click the Browse button.
5. Select the file and click Open.
6. Click the Upload this file button.
7. If you have more than one file, repeat the process (steps 4-6) to attach additional files up to

ASSESSMENT 1: MANAGE PERSONAL WORK PRIORITIES

Performance objective

The candidate will demonstrate the ability to establish personal work goals. The candidate will also
demonstrate the ability to set and meet work priorities.

Assessment description

Using a position description, you will set work goals and prioritise work goals. You will then develop
two work plans to achieve two work goals. You are required to keep a journal containing your
reflections on and explanation of the process of managing work priorities.

Procedure

1. Review your job description and your organisation’s business plans, business goals, policies
and procedures.
In your journal, provide a list of the organisation’s policies, procedures and plans that will inform
team and personal goal setting.
2. Based on your job description (and following your organisation’s business plans, goals, and
applicable policies and procedures), establish four to five goals (including both personal and
team goals).
In your journal, describe how and why you established goals. Explain the value of personal and
team goal-setting in an organisation.
3. Develop KPIs to measure performance related to work goals.
a. In your journal, describe:
b. How the KPIs will be used to measure goal-related performance.
c. How you will maintain performance under varying conditions and contingencies. Give
specific examples.
d. How, given your own personal strengths and weaknesses, you will capitalise on or

work goals to develop work plans for.

demands and how you plan to manage these to achieve goals.
5. Referring to the template provided in Appendix 1 as an example, use Microsoft Word to
develop two work plans to achieve the two goals you have prioritised.

Describe how you have used the plans to manage time efficiently.

Introduction / Executive Summary:
The Star Sydney is the second largest casino in Australia and is well known as the
premier entertainment destination which is filled with local spirit. Their journey started
since 1995 with the original name as Star City and it was the only casino is allowed
to operate in the NSW according to the legislation at that time. Throughout yeas of
development and renovation, The Star Sydney has achieved many awards and
being success in this gambling industry. As a part of The Star’s features, The Star
Event Centre has become the outstanding and the attractive destination of Star. The
Event Centre located on the rooftop of Star with stunning panoramic views over
Sydney Harbour and the city skyline. This is a is a multi-purpose venue suitable for a
wide variety of events and recognized as an industry leading for events. The Star
Event Centre won the Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) National Award for Best
Specialty Event Venue and the State Award for Best In-house Audio Visual. The Star
is also a business partner of Professional Conference Organizers Association (PCO)
for over three years since 2015.

Your position description:


Working as an assistant-manager in Event Centre where I am responsible for
managing staffs, providing leadership, and support team members. My role also
responsible for managing operational and administrative functions to ensure specific
projects are delivered efficiently with excellent customer service and quality delivery.
Moreover, I look after the setting, communicating and maintaining timelines and
priorities on every project. In addition, my job is also keeping relationship with clients,
suppliers as well as other stakeholders that related to the venue.

Goal 2: Increase revenue of the Event Centre
