8 TIPS FOR A POSITIVE RECOVERY HOUSE EXPERIENCE

When flying to Miami by myself, I had two options; Either stay at a recovery
house or book an AirBNB + Private Nurse. After reading online reviews, I chose
to Stay at EOS Recovery House & I regret it BIG TIME! I wish I knew how to
research properly before I booked. This is not to say that Recovery houses are
a bad option as they have some awesome perks such as other girls to bond with,
all-inclusive meals, all transportation covered, around the clock care, etc.
You just have to choose wisely & that's exactly why I put together this list
of my top 8 things to know BEFORE booking:

1. Distance: VERY IMPORTANT!! Verify how far away the recovery house is
from your Doctor. Traffic is bad in Miami, pick up times often change at
the last minute for the drivers, so you’ll want to be within 10-15
minutes or you’ll be waiting on rides or in the car for 2-3 hours at a
time. I’m telling you... Being in the car that long is miserable and
this will make or break your entire sx experience!
2. Care Package: Before you go buying a bunch of post-op supplies like
chux, pads, Tylenol, stool softener, etc. that take up a ton of suitcase
space, check if your recovery house has a care package. Usually, for
$35-$40 they’ll give you all that stuff during your stay as needed. It’s
much more cost efficient (about a $50 savings)!
3. Outside Vendors: Recovery houses typically have a strict policy about
not allowing anyone but paying guests to enter the house. Find out what
third-party vendors are allowed. Examples would be Massage companies or
custom faja consultants such as Contour Fajas.
4. Food Menu: Ask about their food menu. One of the things that make
recovery houses a cost-efficient option is that all your meals are
included. If you’re not a healthy eater, you won’t like the food. I
personally loved it & it’s also doctors orders! I liked not having to
think about food & trust me in the first few days you are too “out of
it” to do so.
5. Female Urinal: Bring a female urinal - this will be your best friend. I
was shocked at how many girls didn’t & had to use a red solo cup. I
recommend the Tinkle Bell (https://amzn.to/2FHfCDm) as it also dries you
off! Tip: practice in the shower a couple of times before your trip.
6. Plush Robe: Bring a thick comfy robe (https://amzn.to/2UmvWD4) as
recovery houses have to keep the temperature between 68-70 for
sterilization purposes. Bring loose night dresses/T-shirt’s for your
massage appointments (something you’ll be comfortable going home naked
underneath in)
7. Extension Cord: Bring an extension cord in case there isn’t an outlet by
your bed so you have 24-hour access to your phone.
8. Extra Large Cleansing Wipes: You will need at least 1-2 packs of extra
large cleansing wipes with you as recovery houses typically don't supply
these. These are for when you go #2. You will not be able to wipe
normally because those ass cheeks will be hard as rocks girl!

BBL SUPPLY LIST - WHAT YOU ACTUALLY NEED

Preparing for surgery can be a little overwhelming and it’s easy to go
overboard on the supply shopping! This is why I have put together my list of
top things you will ACTUALLY need for your surgery. If you want to be extra
budget conscious you can probably find several of these items at your local
dollar store.

Pre-Op

● Blood Health Supplement

○ Why You Need It: for Blood Health Prior to surgery. This
supplement is for healthy hemoglobin levels. It varies from
surgeon to surgeon but typically you need a Hemoglobin level of 12
to have surgery without a cell saver/blood transfusion.
○ Recommended Product: Natures Plus Hemaplex $12
https://amzn.to/2FHfCDm
○ Pro Tip: Start taking 30 days before you get your lab orders (you
typically get labs 2 weeks before surgery)

Week 1 Post Op

● Female Urinal
○ Why You Need It: During recovery, you are getting rid of a lot of
fluid and will need to pee every 2-3 hours. Because you are
wearing a faja, you will need to pee standing up. You will use
this for approximately 3-6 months.
○ Recommended Product: Tinkle Bell $27 h
 ttps://amzn.to/2FHfCDm
○ Pro Tip: Practice in the shower a few times before your sx to get
the hang of it. Girl, trust, you don’t want pee on your faja ;-)
● Stage 1 Low Compression Faja
○ Why You Need It: Your low compression stage 1 faja is meant to
help prevent fluid build up.
○ Recommended Product: Body Shape Tech 664 $110
https://bit.ly/2CLLuGa
○ Pro Tip: First Check if your surgeon offers a faja at a better
deal. Also, your this faja should not be too tight (too tight can
cause fat necrosis). You don’t need to worry about snatching your
waist until Stage 2 which starts at 3 weeks post op.
● Toiletries
○ Why You Need It: If you are traveling for surgery it’s efficient
to take travel size toiletries.
○ Recommended Product: Convenience Kit $10 https://amzn.to/2WtTOSu
○ Pro Tip: You won’t need body wash - see next list item. Pack your
toiletries in a ziplock bag so nothing leaks onto your clothes
with airplane pressure. Put in your checked bag so you don’t run
into any issues with TSA.
● Antiseptic Skin Cleanser
○ Why You Need It: You must wash your body with this special soap
right before surgery & continue to use it week 1.
○ Recommended Product: Hibiclens $10 https://amzn.to/2CKSYt3
○ Pro Tip: Don’t order anything bigger than 8oz, you won't need it.
You don't need to regular body wash during week 1.
● Slide on Shoes
○ Why You Need It: You won’t be able to bend over & need shoes you
can easily slide on while standing.
○ Recommended Product: Baby Pink Slides $11 h
 ttps://amzn.to/2HP26Bm
○ Pro Tip: Get cheap slides that you are okay with fluids leaking
on. (ie. no fur, leather, suede)
● Compression Socks
○ Why You Need It: Compression socks prevent swelling in your feet
and legs after surgery and must be work for 7 days post-op. If you
traveled for surgery, be sure to wear socks on your flight home.
○ Recommended Product: Doc Miller Compression Socks $20
https://amzn.to/2FKYduF

○ Pro Tip: Your surgeon gives you 1 pair of socks that you wake up
in after sc. I recommend getting a second pair as fluid leaks all
over them & you need to wear fresh socks while your others are
washing. I also recommend open toe so you don’t slip and fall.

● Extra Large Cleansing Wipes

○ Why You Need It: When you get a BBL your butt cheeks are hard as
rocks and when going #2 it can get messy. You will need wet wipes
to clean yourself properly.

○ Recommended Product: Premium Formulations (4 Pack) $25

https://amzn.to/2YEqeLV

○ Pro Tip: Be sure you get Extra Large wipes for that extra large
booty girl! (ie. Wet Wipes are way too small)

● Water Bottle

○ Why You Need It: After surgery, you have to stay hydrated and
drink around a gallon of water a day.
○ Recommended Product: CamelBak Eddy Water Bottle $12
https://amzn.to/2HQczfy

○ Pro Tip: Get a water bottle with a built-in straw that is leak
proof. Sitting up hurts really bad in the first week and you’ll
want to be able to drink water while laying in bed on your tummy.

● Extension Chord

○ Why You Need It: If you are staying at an AirBNB or a Recovery

House there may not be an outlet next to the bed & you'll want to
be able to charge your phone at all times.

○ Recommended Product: GE Designer Cord $10 h

 ttps://amzn.to/2FCNCku

● BBL Pillow: Airport then you won't need until 3 weeks post op $50-75

○ Why You Need It: a BBL Pillow must be used for sitting during the
first 3 months of recovery in order to avoid applying pressure to
areas where you had fat grafting.

○ Recommended Product: AHM Innovations BBL Pillow $50

https://amzn.to/2WCNcS1
***Shout out to my sx sister
(https://www.instagram.com/glo_up_ready/) for the recommend

○ Pro Tip: Find out if your surgeon offers a BBL Package that
includes a pillow. If you are traveling for surgery, you will need
your BBL pillow for your flight home. Please read your doctors
post op instructions on when it's safe to use the BBL pillow.

● Foams

○ Why You Need It: Protect your foams so they don't get fluid stains
all over them.

○ Recommended Product: Fajas Colombianas Lipo Foam (3 sheets) $27

https://amzn.to/2CJNoHy

○ Pro Tip: Wear a tank top under your foams so it doesn't irritate
your skin. Wrap your foams in Plastic Saran Wrap to protect them
from fluid stains (trust me they get nasty). Use Duck tape
(https://amzn.to/2uGBvxr) to make a DIY wraparound foam so that
you don't have gaps in your compression.

● Plush Robe

○ Why You Need It: Recovery Homes and Surgery Facilities keep it
really cold at 68-70 degrees. You’ll want a plush robe to keep you
warm.

○ Recommended Product: Vogue Unisex Robe $15 https://amzn.to/2UmvWD4

***IMPORTANT*** If you are staying in a Recovery House, the following items

may be available in a Care Package sold by the House for $30-$40. Call and ask
them about it. If they do, you don't need to purchase these items and bring
with you - this saves you a good chunk of change & space in your luggage.

● Chux / Disposable Underpads

○ Why You Need It: After BBL surgery, you will be leaking fluids
like crazy. Chux will need to be put down on the bed to protect
the sheets and mattress from exposure to fluids.
○ Recommended Product: Medline Underpads (50 count) $36
https://amzn.to/2WxrcI3
○ Pro Tip: You will need 40-50 of these pads during week 1 of
recovery while they are re-opening your incisions for drainage
massages. After that, you shouldn’t need them anymore.
● Maxi Pads
○ Why You Need It: After BBL surgery, you will be leaking fluids.
These pads are used to cover incisions and absorb as much fluid as
possible.
○ Recommended Product: Poise Pads (32 Count) $24
https://amzn.to/2JR4QzH
○ Pro Tip: Don’t waste any coins on gauze, it's too thin. These pads
are all you need.
● Stool Softener
○ Why You Need It: When taking pain killers, it can cause
constipation.
○ Recommended Product: Wellness Basics Stool Softener $9
https://amzn.to/2FCG2X0
○ Pro Tip: If you haven't gone #2 by midday 3, go ahead and take one
of these pills to ensure you don’t get any constipation pains.
● Extra Strength Tylenol
○ Why You Need It: Tylenol is the only approved pain relief
medication approved to take alongside your prescribed pain
killers.
○ Recommended Product: Rapid Release Extra Strength Tylenol $15
https://amzn.to/2uAxR8i
○ Pro Tip: Take a full-size bottle, not the travel size because you
will need more than that! Outside of Tylenol, You cannot take
Midol, Ibuprofen, Advil, ASpirin, or any other pain relief pills
during week 1 of recovery.
● Arnica Gel
○ Why You Need It: Reduces bruising, swelling, and pain from
liposuction surgery.
○ Recommended Product: Arnicare Boiron Arnica Gel (3 pack) $25

following additional items with you. (tip: book a place with a washer and
dryer b/c you’ll need to wash your faja daily)

● Shower Curtain
○ Why You Need It: To protect the mattress from damage & avoid
replacement fees.
○ Recommended Product: LiBa Clear Shower Curtain $10

○ Pro Tip: Put shower curtain over the mattress, tuck it around the
sides & cover with a fitted sheet to keep in place.

○ Why You Need It: To protect sheets from damage & avoid replacement
fees.
○ Recommended Product: Utopia Sheet Set $14 h
 ttps://amzn.to/2CNX9o0
○ Pro Tip: Take super cheap sheets that you can throw away after
week 1, the chux don’t always catch all the fluid.

traveling you don’t need to take them with you as you will start using them
Week 2 post-op.

areas with liposuction.

System
