Peripheral edema (RIGHT SIDE HEART FAILURE)

 bipedal edema (booth feet)

 varicose veins
 hemorrhoids
 ascites (fluid in abdomen)
 jugular vein distention (prominent vein)

Pulmonary edema (LEFT SIDE HEART FAILURE)

 shortness of breathing
 dyspnea (difficulty of breathing)
 hypoxia (decreasing oxygen tissue)

 (-) effect- chronotropic (less HR);

dromotropic (less conduction)

Rationale: 1. Reduces cardiac workload

2. prevent cardiac enlargement

3. it reduces auto oxygen demand

 (+)effect- inotropic (increase myocardial
