Dear Sir/Madam,

RE: NOTICE OF INTENTION TO SUE

I refer to my Appointment Letter from Muteesa I Royal University dated at Kampala

the 15th day of May, 2017. In the referred-to letter (a copy whereof is herewith), I
was recruited as a Part-Time Teaching Assistant and deployed at Kirumba –
Campus, Masaka. As per the terms of engagement posited therein, my duties,
(hereinafter, ‘services’) included but not limited to; teaching, setting and
invigilating examinations, coursework, continuous assessment tests, etc. I was in the
same letter, entitled to an hourly pay of UGX 20,000/- (Uganda Shillings Twenty
Thousand Only) for the services due offered. I diligently carried on the execution
of such services as stipulated in my contract for the period stated therein. In
accordance with the terms and conditions of payment, I submitted on the 5th day
of June, 2017 two (2) claim notes in the values of UGX 660,000/- and UGX 620,000/-
enclosed with Coursework Results, Examination Marks and Attendance Sheets.
These two claims which amount to UGX 1,280,000/- have up to now not been
honoured. The university hence owes me a total of UGX 1,280,000/- (Uganda
Shillings One Million Two Hundred Eighty Thousand Only) as unpaid dues.
In view of the above therefore, I am writing to inform you that I intend to pursue
legal action in form of a lawsuit against your institution. I have patiently waited
for my remuneration with hopes on the rather futile promises from the Head of the
Engineering Department that “the university is working on my concerns”.
Notwithstanding this, I have up to date, still not received any response whatsoever
regarding the payments owed to me. This leaves me no other choice than to
pursue legal action. I have given you a period of 14 days from the day of receipt
of this notice to act upon my claims which in effect are worth UGX 1,280,000/-
(Uganda Shillings One Million Two Hundred Eighty Thousand Only) and upon such
failure, I will proceed to file the matter in the Courts of Law, without further notice.
Should you decide to honour the demand of this notice, thus averting any legal
activity, please do so by remitting the dues on my account detailed on my claim
sheets submitted earlier. If you have any questions regarding this impending legal
action, please contact me on +256-705 828245.

I look forward to your immediate response on this matter.

Yours sincerely,

RONALD WAISWA
