I. Rationale
This role play is intended for biology students. In this role play, the assimilation
of fats is portrayed specifically focused on acetyl CoA as to its importance in the
assimilation of fats.
“The fat is stored in the fat deposits of the body, such as subcutaneous layers,
mesenteries, etc. The fat stored is a readily available source of fuel for the cells”
(Manisha, n.d.).
Fat acts as protective role in packing materials and between organs such as in
the liver, phospholipids are formed and then return to the blood for the cells to use
then the fats are converted into carbohydrates and amino acids. Fats are good
storage compound (CBSE, 2019). “Lipid metabolism entails the oxidation of fatty
acids to either generate energy or synthesize new lipids from smaller constituent
molecules. Lipid metabolism is associated with carbohydrate metabolism, as
products of glucose (such as acetyl CoA) can be converted into lipids.” (BCcampus,
n.d).
