A Guidance Program for Senior High School Students

RATIONALE:

The La Consolacion College is a private catholic school which is built last 1902. It is founded by the Nuns of Augustinian
later called Colegio de Nuestra Señora de la Consolacion, a school for girls and gives education for those who wants to pass the
civil service examination. The main campus is located at Mendiola Street within the University Belt Area of Manola and same
district with Malacañang Palace. The school is dedicated and committed for the total development of the child of not just
making him a unique individual but one who is morally, physically, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually whole to serve
God, country and his fellowmen.

The Guidance serves as the member of the students’ services division which is responsible in supporting students’
psychological welfare and assisting students for the path that they may choose in college. The office offers counselling which is
always done in private and under a conducive environment. It aims to promote holistic growth to the students by providing
responsive and preventive guidance programs and interventions to support personal, social, career, and educational progress
from start of their school journey, in the middle and even after they graduate.

The guidance program also includes those activities that designed to assist the pupils in their adjustment and to attain
the worthwhile goal and objectives. Likewise, specific guidance activities include: Orientation, recording about the student,
counseling, group guidance activities, placement, follow up and research and evaluation.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

 To familiarize the new senior high school students in the different activities, programs, services and functions of the
Guidance Center.
 To develop among the SHS students, the ability to make intelligent choices as well as decision –making and can cope
with life’s problem situation.
 To assist students in developing a well rounded personality –their physical, physiological, intellectual, emotional and
spiritual aspects, in order to prepare them to be self-sufficient and mature person.
 To assess the student’s potentialities, abilities, interest, personality, social and emotional needs so that the students will
know better and develop their potentialities.
