PULSE POWER SUPPLY BOARD REPAIRING This set has a pulse-power supply circuit which is quite different from a conventional power-supply circuit. The pulse-power supply directly rectifies and smooths the ac input power to produce the higher dc voltages required in the power supply circuit. When servicing this set, note the following. 1) To prevent unwanted radiation due to pulse signals in the pulse power supply circuit, the pulse power supply board is shielded by the aluminum diecast box 2) The negative circuit of the secondary rectifier in the pulse power supply circuit is grounded by screws in the aluminum diecast box. When checking the pulse power supply board out of the box, refer to “Caution on pulse power supply board repairing on page 13. REPLACEMENT OF TRANSFORMERS PULSE POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT The lead wire arrangement, for each of T901 and 902 in the inverter circuit are shown in Fig. 1 As the repair parts, T901 and T902 are by only iron core. Thus, if the coils are defective, arrange & new transformers as shown in Fig. 1. Note that the ead lengths must be exact. CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION ‘Semiconductor Switches and Drive Circuit ‘The TA-FS5 uses a semiconductor switch, CX770 (C101), for switching of inputs. Fig. 1 to 3 show the semiconductor switches and their drive circuit. Note: the voltage values in the sentences are reference values. When the power switch is switched on, the TUNER] signal circuit is designed to turn on first of all. If the buttons are pressed lightly, the volume changes slowly, while if they are pressed firmly, the volume changes at double the speed; and the setting of the volume control is indicated by a volume control indicator that glows green. Fig, 5 shows the drive circuit for the automatic volume control circuit.
