PROJECTS
§ B.Tech Project(Thesis) - Synthesis of Graphene Foams - under Prof. Srinivas Rao Bakshi of Metallurgical
and Materials Engineering Department, IIT Madras (2016-17)
• Synthesized 3D multi-layers graphene networks on nickel foam from ethylene between 700 and 1000 °C
by chemical vapor deposition
• Obtained weight percentages of graphene as high as 15%, corresponding to graphene layers of 500 nm to
1 µm thick by tuning the particle size of the metal powders and the growth temperature
• Produced 3D graphene structures which provided a high volumetric electric double layer capacitance of
165 mF cm⁻³
• Obtained high specific capacitance - 100 Fg⁻¹ by lowering the number of layers down to single layer
graphene
• Enhanced the piezoelectric, thermoelectric and optical properties of graphene foams by employing
field assisted sintering technique
§ Field trip to Caterpillar Inc., Chennai (2015)
• Visited Caterpillar Inc. as part of the course “Principles of Management” and got to know about the
working of the organization.

INTERNSHIPS
§ National Aluminium Company(NALCO) Trainee May’15 - July’15 (6 weeks)
• Underwent training about the working of Green Anode Plant, Baking Oven, Rodding Shops, Pot Line
Melters, Fume Treatment Plant, Cast Houses and Rolling Plant
• Decreased the amount of green rejects in Green Anode Plant to less than 2%
• Increased the density of anodes to 1.64 and butts used was reduced to 20%
• Reduced Hydrogen Fluoride emissions at stack to less than 0.005 kg/ton of Aluminium
• Increased efficiency of Snif Hydrogen removal, used for degassing of Aluminium, by 5%.
• Conceptualized methods for optimization and control of process parameters for production of EC-
Grade Aluminium and increased its purity to 99.5%
• Increased the efficiency of Pot Line Melters to 94%
• Laid special emphasis on Cast House A-production of ingots, sow ingots, tee ingots, billets and wire
rods and Cast House B- production of cast strips and alloy ingots and Rolling Plant- production of
Rolled Sheets and Chequered Plates
• Reduced metal loss by 4% by decreasing holding time and preventing oxidation and a further 5% by
using quality raw material
• Limited roll diameters must to within 2.5 ten-thousandths of an inch (0.006 mm)

• Reduced total roll stack eccentricity to as small as 0.01 mm

§ Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company Ltd. Intern June’16 - July’16 (6 weeks)
• Learnt about different types of mutual funds
• Gained an understanding of Portfolio Management and Risk and Return Analysis in Mutual Funds
• Conducted a survey to measure the awareness of Mutual Fund among the prospective investors and
experiences by bankers, agency managers and relationship managers in Bhubaneswar
• Compared 5 large cap mutual funds with special emphasis on Kotak Select Focus Fund
• Increased the customer base by 10% by employing optimal asset allocation strategies
• Designed and developed portfolio of investors by clustering them and by taking their risk appetite into

• Collaborated with the Aerospace Department and demonstrated exothermicity of aluminium oxidation
to produce high exhaust temperature for improved propulsion.
• Organized a workshop on fluorescence of metals involving Nano-gold in collaboration with the
Chemistry department
• Arranged for equipments and instruments necessary for carrying out all events smoothly
• Compiled write-ups of all the events and liasoned with the Web Development team to publish it on the
official website of Amalgam
• Invited guest lecturers and organized 3 industrial lectures increasing participation from previous
academic year by 25%
• The footfall of the event was 1500 participants across 3 days

• Conducted a demonstration on “electrospinning of polymer nanofibres and their applications”
explaining the making of polymer fibres
• Conducted demonstrations on metal joining, casting and principles of solidification processing
• Carried out experiments on interaction of Nano particles with animal cells, their functionalization and
anti - bacterial effect
• Compiled write-ups for all the events of Amalgam and increased the visibility of the festival inviting
applications from over 1500 participants from 55 colleges in and around Tamil Nadu
• Divided all the participants into different time slots and mailed them informing them about their
respective schedules
• Publicized Amalgam through online and offline campaigns and increased the number of followers of its
Facebook page by 15%
• The footfall of the event was 1800 participants across 3 days
