SONOBOND 200
Epoxy Bonding System For Concrete
USE
SONOBOND 200 can be used to make fast, easy repairs between existing concrete and freshly
placed conerete surfaces that require a permanent bond. SONOBOND 200 minimizes stresses
occuring at the bonding interface due to thermal and mechanical shock and creep. It may also
be used as an adhesive for bonding cured concrete to cured concrete, for anchoring steel dowel
to concrete, wood, and as a general purpose adhesive.
DESCRIPTION
SONOBOND 200 is a two component, 100 percent epoxy resin adhesive system designed for
bonding fresh conerete topping to older existing surfaces or old conerete to old concrete, The
two components, base(A) and catalyst(B), are mixed in 5 to 3 ratio by weight immediately
before using. When cured, the adhesive forms a permanent, waterproof bond that is stronger
than the original concrete. It may be applied to concrete block, stone, brick , steel, wood, and
other surfaces..
APPLICATION
Surfaces receiving SONOBOND 200 must be clean and free from all surface contaminants. It
is important to have a clean, sound substrate; chipping or scarifying may be necessary to
achieve this. Should oil or curing compounds be present, they must be removed by
sandblasting. For acid etching, a 10-15% solution of muriatic acid is recommended. After
acid etching has been accomplished, the entire area must be thoroughly flushed with fresh,
clean water and allowed to dry. Mixing of components A and B must be thorough for proper
curing. Use of a slow speed mechanical mixer is recommended. Mix 5 parts by weight
component A with 3 parts component B. SONOBOND 200 can be applied by brush, broom
or roller. Use stiff, bristled brush application for porous or rough surfaces. Make sure a
sufficient coating of SONOBOND 200 is applied to the surface to coat all voids and crevices.
It is mandatory that SONOBOND 200 be wet or tacky when fresh conerete is placed,
