Applications

The Department of computer science strives for excellence in creating,

applying, and imparting knowledge in computer science through
comprehensive educational programs that benefits the students. The
department is expanding and maintaining research efforts across many
areas to give the students the best possible education.

The department of Computer science and applications offers the

 Department Infrastructure

 We have two highly ventilated world class sophisticated computer

labs with high end configurated computers.
 Each lab consists of more than 60 computers with lcd screen
monitors.
 All Computer systems in each lab are connected in a LAN
network.
 At present Wi-Fi Internet facility is provided to faculty and in
future it will be extend to students too.
 All Physics, Electronics, Mathematics labs have been modernized
and obsolescence is being removed by equipping them with state-
of-the-art equipment.
 Bandwidth of Internet connectivity has been upgraded to 10 Mbps
from 5 Mbps

Academic Activities
The academic calendar planned for all the programmes has been
implemented effectively and adhered to strictly.

 All classes are held as per the time-table and required number of
hours for all subjects are spared and complete syllabus is covered.
Strict measures are put in place to monitor conduction of classes
and also to assess the coverage of portion. The effectiveness of the
teaching and processes being followed are evaluated based on the
feedback taken from each student of the college.

  Labs are for all the subjects like Computer Science , Mathematics ,
Physics and Electronics are handled effectively with introduction
of experiments with real time applications. Practical exams are
introduced to bring-in seriousness with regard to application of
theories being studied.

 Students of BCA in their Fifth semester are encouraged to carry-out

projects in-house to strengthen activities in the departments and
also to involve students in all departmental activities.

 Students of BCA in their Sixth Semester also encouraged to take-up

projects with industries on internship to work on live projects. This
has also helped the institution to develop interaction with
industries.

 Unit tests/preparatory exams are conducted to evaluate the

progress of students.

 Mock practical exams are conducted for all the subjects before the
University practical exams.

 Remedial classes are conducted for the slow learners and also to the
students with backlogs.

 Every time after the completion of unit tests or preparatory exams,

parent teachers meeting is conducted and the parents are informed
about the attendance and academic performance of their wards.

 Students are encouraged to participate in both intra and inter

college competitions.

  Faculty members are encouraged to attend the workshops and
seminars within the institution and also other institutions in
Bangalore.

 Project exhibitions are organized in all the departments and projects

are graded and best projects are rewarded. This has brought-in lot
of seriousness with students to carry-out project works effectively
to enable them to exhibit their projects and compete for awards.

Department Events
 On 01-08-2015, Prof B.S. Gopala Krishna , HOD , gave a lecture
on usage of Internet in Staff colloquium.

 On 07-08-2015, Prof Ramakrishna from Reva University,

Bangalore, visited our department and gave a guest lecture on a
very important topic called Big Data.

 On 13-08-2015 , Prof. Hidayathulla, organized Logo painting

competitor for all First sem BCA and B.Sc Students.

 On 18-03-2015, Prof. Hidayathulla, organized Web designing

competition for all BCA and B.Sc students.

 On 24-08-2015, Miss Roja Reddy , Lecturer in Computer Science ,

gave a lecture on “M.S office and its usages” in staff colloquium.

  On 02-09-2015, Mr Allwyn Rozario, Lecturer in Physics , organized
a one day industrial trip to ISRO for all the final year Physics
students.
 On 07-09-2015, Mr Allwyn Rozario, organized a quiz programme
for all the physics students.

 On 22-09-2015, Prof. Aruna, Lecturer in electronics organized a

quiz competition in electronics for all electronics students.

 On 16-01-2016, Prof. Lakshmi Narayana , HOD, Presidency

degree college, Bangalore, visited our department and gave a
guest lecture on a topic called System programming.

 On 18-01-2016, Prof. Uma mageshwari , Lecturer in computer

science gave a lecture on “System security and cryptography” in
staff colloquium.

 On 29-01-2016, the students of VI BCA gave a presentation on a

topic called Data Mining.

 From 08-02-2016 to 13-02-2016, Prof. B.S. Gopala Krishna, HOD,

Department of computer science organized a Industrial trip for
BCA and B.Sc students.

 On 26th ,27th Feb 2016, Three VI Sem B.Sc Students under the
guidance of Prof Sangeetha, attended two day work shop on
“Fourier series, Fourier transformations and its applications” at
Indian Academy Degree College

  On 29-02-2016, Prof. Sangeetha, gave a lecture on a topic called
“Journey of Mathematics” in staff colloquium.

Student Achievements

Class : VI BCA
1. Santhosh Kumar .S and his friends Dinesh, Kiran, Jai kumar,
Arun, Swarna, Ramesh, Sanjay, Karthick and Ramesh
participated in short movie making competition at Kristu Jayanthi
College, Bangalore. They won third prize in that competition.

2. Borish participated in intra college “web designing compettion”

and he won first prize in that competition.

3. Mahdi, participated in intra college “web designing compettion”

and he won second prize in that competition.

4. Shamili,Swarna, Jemima, Zakiya, Santhosh, Arun, Ghulam

Mustaba actively participated in various competitions during
Estasy event in our college. They won many prizes too.

5. Prashanth .S actively participated in various sports events in our

college. He won many prizes in Long jump, high jump, Kho Kho
and Volley ball.

 6. Shamili, Swarna, Jemima and Shanaaz Banu participated in
events like throw ball, volley ball, kho kho. They got prizes too in
that events.

Class : IV BCA
1. Arpita .G participated in Intra college Coding and Debugging
competition. She won first Prize in that competition.

2. Challa Padmaja participated in intra college “Coding and

Debugging” completion and got second prize.

3. Manjunath .G, Khaleel .M, Mohammed Munnawar participated

in “Mine Sweeper” competition (group event) at Vijaya college ,
Bangalore. They won second prize in that competition.

4. Manjunath .G participated in Code battle competition at

Maharani Ammani college, Bangalore. He got First prize in that
competition.
5. Chaitanya , Lokesh, Padmaja actively participated in ecstasy
event and they got prizes in different competitions like solo
singing, nail art, fruit carving, mehendi, pot painting and etc.

Class : II BCA

1. John , Mohammed Irshad, Brou Samou Alain participated in

intra college logo painting competition. They won Ist , 2nd and
third prize in respectively.

 2. Brou Samou Alain participated in web designing competition. He
won 3rd prize in that competition.
3. Large number of students from II BCA have participated in
various sports and cultural events both national and international
level and they won many prizes too.

Class : VI B.Sc
1. On 3rd and 4th March 2016, Bharath Hari Sharma participated in
various events at Vijaya college, Bangalore. He got many prizes in
competitions like “Circuit Analysis” , pick and speak and electronics
lecture.

Class : IV B.Sc
1. Saini Madhavi participated in “Circuit analysis Competition” at
Vijaya college, Bangalore. She won 3rd prize in that competition.

2. Arnold participated in the event “Chalk and Talk Mathematics”

at Vijaya college, Bangalore. He got 3rd prize in that competition.

3. Gufrana khanum, Divya rani, Princy, Sushma and Nishmitha

actively participated in escatasy program and they got many
prizes too.

 Project Training
All VI BCA and B.Sc are trained by Empower global Solutions,
Bangalore. Under the training the students were taught Web technogies
like HTML, XML, CSS, Java Script, PHP. This training program helped
the students to develop their own web projects.

Training and Placement

The VI BCA and B.Sc students are given training in soft skills under the
guidance of our placement officer Mr Vivek Lama. The training
programs covers the topics like quantitative aptitude, resume
preparation, Mock interviews, Mock group discussions and etc. The
