About the Author

Floyd Vogt is a sixth-generation carpenter and contractor. His family operated a small business devoted to all
phases of home construction, and he began working in the family business at age 15. After completing a
B.A. in chemistry at the State University of New York College at Oneonta, Mr. Vogt returned to the field as
a self-employed remodeler. In 1985 he began teaching in the Carpentry program at the State University of
New York, Delhi. He has taught many courses, including light framing, advanced framing, math, energy-
efficient construction, finish carpentry, finish masonry, and estimating. Mr. Vogt is currently a professor in
the Construction Design-Build Management bachelor's degree program, where his course responsibilities
include residential construction, AutoCAD, construction seminar, and physical science applications. He has
also served as a carpentry regional coordinator for Skills-USA and as a post-secondary Skills-USA student
advisor. Mr. Vogt is also the co-author or CARPENTRY, 6E and he is a member of a local town planning
board.

The exact text book that I needed

This was the exact text book that I needed. And it was much cheaper than at the school bookstore. And for
anyone who is looking for an instructional book on how to frame a building, this is a great book for you. It
gives you all the info you need to learn the basics of framing and to get started on a project of your own.

Excellent Book!

This book is AMAZING! I was looking to construct a safe haven in my basement for some fugitives I
currently harbor. The cops always are nosing around my place, but thanks to this miracle, I won't have to
worry about them. I drafted up the plans for the concealed room and put this book's knowledge to work. The
section on ventilation really helped out in disbursing the strong aroma from the meth lab that is adjoined. I
already have plans to add the child-labor wing on the south side. This is an excellent source of tips and
techniques when designing your own self-help project. My wife wasn't really a big fan of the pleasure
dungeon I just finished up, but a plentiful supply of chloroform and a zippered bag over her head for a few
weeks sure changed her mind. She doesn't complain at all now.
