Chapter I

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

The Sunbeam Christian School of Mati, Inc. is founded and

administered by Pastor Alex B. Balgos, the love of children and passion of

teaching were his inspirations on putting up a preschool since he is a full

time Church Pastor. Through the encouragement of Rev. Emmanuel T.

Estrella, his Senior Pastor In Panabo City, the vision to open a preschool

was conceived thus, born the seed of Sunbeam Learning Center. The

name “SUNBEAM” is chosen to give emphasis to its meaning, “that

children are God’s gift and they too are channel of blessings to the

community for Jesus” as stated in proverbs 22 verse 6.

On the other hand, Pastor Alex B. Balgos started to open a Special

Education Program for the Hearing Impairment three (3) years ago for

which he incorporated with Sunbeam as attached special project. There

were twenty-one (21) hearing impaired young and adult enjoying the

said program.

Now and in the future, Sunbeam School will continuously stand by its

purpose. As its mission the Sunbeam School of Mati, Inc. was established

to serve as an extension of the home by assisting parents in providing an

excellent academic training and experience for preparatory,

elementary, and secondary school students that will transform them to

become God-fearing, well-rounded individuals who are exemplary

models both in character and competence in one’s family and

community.

Purpose of the Study

The main purpose of this research is to know History of the school,

their mission, vision and goals, the progression of the school every

year. Also if the school will conduct a competition to others school like

division level, regional level and national level.

Statement of the Problem

1. What is the purpose to choose in building a school?

2. Who inspired you conceived Sunbeam school?

3. Where did the name “sunbeam” came from ?

4. When did the sunbeam started?

5. How did you identify that there is increasing number of the

students every?

Significance of the Study

This study aimed to know the history of the school and the value of

having school for the learning of the students in Mati City to enhance

their knowledge and skills. Through this study, we know purpose why they

choose to build a school for the enhance learning of the students, and

also, to help the those people who conduct a research to this school.

Scope and Limitation

The researcher studies the history of the Sunbeam Christian School

of Mati, Inc. from 1998 up to present in Mati City. The respondents of the

study are owner of the school. This will be a one on one interview of the

respondent/participant.

Definition of Terms

Incorporated- is turning your sole proprietorship or general partnership

into a company formally recognized by your state if incorporation. When

a company incorporates, it becomes its own legal business structure set

apart from the individuals who founded the business.

Chapter III

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents a description that the researcher used in this

study. These are composed of research design, research participation,

data collection and tools, data analysis and ethical consideration.

Research Design

This research used quantitative method. The researcher used research

questions to analyzing the past event or the previous event until the

present of the history of the school, that the participant shared their ideas,

experience and the value on it.

Research Participant

The subjects of this research is the owner of the Sunbeam School here

in Mati City whom the researcher interviewed and collecting some data

to have more information.

Data Collection and Procedure

The researcher used primary data by interviewing the ultimate owner

of the Sunbeam School in Mati City.

Data Analysis

The data collected by the interviewee must be analyze through

interpreting and analyzing the data collected to the participant.

Ethical Consideration

This research must be consider the ethical consideration of the

researcher and the participant that must be respect for the

confidentiality and privacy of the data that being collected.

RESULT AND DISCUSSION OF DATA

This chapter provides the experiences and insights of the research

respondents which were interpreted and analyzed. The discussion in this

chapter was shown and arranged to the salient for each questions in the

interview.

1. What is the meaning of “Sunbeam”?

“ang word nga Sunbeam naggikan na siya sa gasa sa anak sa Ginoo

nga mao ang tulay sa kalambuan sa atong komunidad”

The name Sunbeam is chosen to give emphasis to its meaning, “that

children are God’s gift and they too are channel of blessings to the

community for Jesus” as stated in Proverbs 22 verse 6.

According t them that the word Sunbeam is came from the words of

God that stated in proverbs 22 verse 6 train up a child in the they should

go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

2. When did the sunbeam christian School Of Mati Inc. Is formally open?

“nagsugod ang sunbeam ug tukod o nag open atong hunyo 1999

bisan tuod gamay paman ug mga facility ug halos onse ra kabook

studyante sa kindergarten pero padayon japun ang pagtudlo para sa

mga bata to become an excellent academic student and god-fearing

and well-rounded individual.”

It was on June 1999 that the sunbeam christian school of Mati, Inc.

was formally opened with almost eleven student. Even they are lack of

facilities but they also continue to teach the young kids by providing

them an excellent academic training and become a God-fearing and

well-rounded individuals who are exemplary models in character and

competence.

Therefore Sunbeam School formally opened on June 1999 even

though there are lack of facilities but still it will continue in god grace until

now that sunbeam stand by their own.

3. Is the school have increasing number of students and has a complete

classroom and facilitator?

“ou halos kada tuig naa siya pagtaas na halos byente (20) pursento

bisan paman ginagmay atleast naa siya ana mn jud basta mag business

padahan-dahan pero tuloy parin. Kaya hanggang ngayon nakapag

patayo na kami nang kompletong classroom simula kindergarten

hanggang senior high at nadagdagan na rin ang aming mga studyante”

Yes, sunbeam school is anticipating an increasing number 20% of its

population yearly based on the track record on its founding year 1999 up

to the present. With god’s grace the call to construct a spacious

classroom was completed from kindergarten to senior high school and

began equipped with hired competent teachers, computers, library and

other facilities that made Pastor Alex Balgos dreams come true.

As what they said that sunbeam school now are almost have an

increasing number of student and lots of classroom from kindergarten to

senior high and lot of facilities.

4. Who is the person that encourage you to construct this facilities or

school?

“Rev. Emmanuel T. estrella” mao na siya ang senior pastor ni pastor

Alex sa una katong nag skwela pa siya. Tungod ni pastor Estrella na nag

encourage sa iya nag magtukod ug skwelahan na makigcorporate sa

iya ug hangtod karun naa lang japun siya nagpatalikod sa amoa na

handang tumulong sa ano mang hamon”

He is the person that encourage Pastor Alex Balgos to build a School

also he is the senior Pastor of pastor Alex when he is studied as lay

minister of Fundamental baptist church. Through his encouragement

pastor Alex trigger his eagerness to corporate to him to build a school

because he know that this person is the one who help him to have a own

business.

According to them that Rev. Emmanuel T. Estrella is the one that help

them to pursue in building a school and they will treasure it until now. We

know that every chances is important that is why we have to grab it

especially if it is good to us “dahil ang pagsisi ay hindi nauuna kundi nasa

sa huli”.

5. Is the school must compete division,regional and even national level?

“ou, halos lahat ng kompetisyon ay sumasali kami kahit manalo o

matalo man ang importante may maipresenta kami sa aming sariling

paaralan, kay baya na ang dahilan na mas mailhn ang skwelahan kung

naay mga representative na mga studyante. Halos tanan level naka

represent nami ug dili sa paghinambug naka abot npud mi sa national

level.

Yes, there are lot of student who enroll in this school must compete to

other level. Like Shunjay L. Abordo -7th placer in Science-Math Quest

National Level competition 2015 (secondary level). Michaela Louise M.

Jandaya Sci-dama National Qualifier 2015 (elementary level) and Iann

Axel Balgos who compete for 2016 Rubik’s Cube competition National

level. They were few of those who qualified for the national height. This

simply means one thing Sunbeam produces highly competent learner.

Therefore, having a competition to other schools can give more

feedback and can well known the name of the school. Because that is

the first step to make a school know to other people and can encourage

them to enroll that particular school.

Chapter V

SUMMARY & CONCLUSION

This chapter presents the summary of the study and the conclusion

based on the data gathered.

Summary

This study aimed to seek and consolidate the perception of the

researcher to the owner with regards to the history of the Sunbeam

Christian School of Mati, Inc. from 1999 until the present. The researcher

used descriptive method of research, wherein the data were gathered

through the used of survey questionnaires and collecting of data. This

study was conducted within almost one (1) month, from may 1-24, 2019

but lots of disruption to conduct because of lack of time . In interpreting

the data, the researcher used quantitative method.

Conclusion

Therefore, in the past and present times, Sunbeam School if Mati City

armors every learner the excellent academic training and experiences

that will transform each of them to become God-fearing and well-

rounded individuals who are exemplary models of both character and

competence on one’s family and community, and will continuously stand

by its purpose.
