Associated Learning Standard(s): The resource may be generally applicable, if so, simply state that. List any ISTE-S standards that
seem to naturally align with the selected resource.

• 1a Students articulate and set personal learning goals, develop strategies leveraging technology to achieve them and
reflect on the learning process itself to improve learning outcomes.
• 1b Students build networks and customize their learning environments in ways that support the learning process.

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

Evernote allows students to create a portfolio that allows for text and files to be assembled with a very easy-to-use interface.
Students can create different notebooks for different classes if need be, and for separate assignments within each notebook. The
service also offers notebooks formatted for research projects and lectures. The site is fairly simple and does not offer
customization for the notebooks beyond formatting.

INTEGRATION IDEA - PORTFOLIOS

How might you use this resource in a lesson plan to promote student-centered learning?

I would use Evernote as a way for students to keep a record of all the major assignments we’ve done so that they can look back
on them for future reference for other assignments. In my example, I had a section specific for literary devices with a file that
would be a list of commonly used literary devices in literature. A resource like that would be essential for students should they
ever forget the incredible amount of literary devices used by authors, and by having it in their Evernote, it would make it easy to
access even on their phones through the app.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
• Based on the “value-added rating scale” above, how would you rate the technology integration you described, using the
selected resource?

• Explain your rating based on the rubric indicators.

I would rate Evernote a 2, because it can be very useful over the course of the year by allowing students to keep an easy-to-access
record of their work and valuable resources but isn’t absolutely necessary for any lesson in particular. I will say I wish that it had
more customization options because it is quite bland and not easy for students to really make it their own.
