ABSTRACT

Leadership is a very important factor in a certain organization. Leadership plays

important roles in organization such as making decisions and determining directions that
must be attained. Good leadership would improve effectiveness of others in accomplishing
the work. Encountering with autonomy age, creative leader is needed because leader is
required to perform leadership function properly and to be proactive in directing followers to
attain organizational goals. Leadership traits are influencing the activity of leader in several
aspects such as making decisions, planning, organizing, controlling, coordinating, and
ensuring whether a certain organization would be success or effective. Therefore, several
traits must be attended by a leader if leader wants to make the organization successful, and
these traits include intelligence, emotional maturity, motivation, and interpersonal
competence.
The formulated problem in this research is: “How is The Importance of Leadership
Traits in The Implementation of Development in Yeleas Village, Tangma District, Yahukimo
Regency?” The objective of research includes: (a) to understand leadership traits in Yeleas
Village, Tangma District, Yahukimo Regency, (b) to investigate the implementation of
development in Yeleas Village, Tangma District, Yahukimo Regency, and (c) to
acknowledge the importance of leadership traits in the implementation of development in
Yeleas Village, Tangma District, Yahukimo Regency.
Research uses qualitative descriptive approach. This approach provides some
possibilities to the author to resolve actual problems by collecting the data, arranging or
classifying these data, and bringing them to be subjected to analysis and interpretation.
Sample of research includes 30 respondents.
Result of research displays some indications. (a) Result of data analysis on variable of
leadership traits shows that 85% respondents have reported that the existing leadership traits
are already good. (b) Result of data analysis on variable of village development reveals that
80% respondents confirm that village development has been implemented well. (c) It can be
concluded that there is a relationship between leadership traits and the implementation of
development in Yeleas Village, Tangma District, Yahukimo Regency.
