INTRODUCTION

Environmental indicators are parameters used to assess the state of a complex


environmental system (such as climate, landscape or ecosystem) that would
otherwise be difficult to measure or evaluate. Environmental indicators help
achieve progress in achieving environmental objectives (for example, of the
sustainable development objectives included in the millennium development
goals), their use facilitates monitoring and decision-making.
What are the objectives of environmental indicators?

-The objectives of the environmental indicators will allow companies to measure


environmental impact studies, to grant or deny permits in the construction of large
works
-It determines the modality of studies if these projects have impacts that each
project may cause, their magnitude and importance that help to make decisions.
-It helps in the identification and evaluation of situations that may arise from
deterioration of the environment and the environment and can take corrective
actions.
-have a reliable database to project improvement actions in situations of risk to the
environment.

What is the importance of environmental indicators?

The importance of environmental indicators is based on the fact that they help us
to identify in an appropriate way situations of risk of an environment and it
becomes fundamental to make corrective or improvement decisions against a
possible deterioration of natural resources.

How to use environmental indicators in the professional field?


The environmental indicators can be used in the professional field to understand,
describe and analyze different phenomena such as climate, soil loss, pollution risk,
loss of flora and fauna.
