So the first reason to engage in prophetic dialogue is that our call is to bear witness in conviction and openness.

it is part of our very witness to listen as well as to talk, to learn as well to share, to explore faith in a spirit of mutuality with
believers in other religions.
We need to imitate the humility and goodness of Jesus. But we can attain this if we have a constant communion with the
Lord.
Together with our dialogue partners, we hope to hear the voice of the spirit of God calling us forward, and in this way our
dialogue can be called prophetic.
The same stance makes us accept the conviction that we can only propose the truth to others and invite them to our
vision of it.
Being a true follower of Christ means to change our entire lifestyle. It means to change the way we act, think and speak.
In order to be a follower of Jesus we need to change our entire life, dying to who we used to be, and becoming a new
person.
This takes commitment and sacrifice and it is not easy. Too often we have undersold the Gospel. We have tried to make it
easy in order to convince others to accept it, but it's not easy.
(a) faith seekers/ people who have no faith communities’ religious affiliations
(b) people who are poor and marginalized
(c) people with different cultures
(d) people of different faith traditions and secular ideologies
What does it mean to be a true follower of Christ?

One Heart Many Faces
'Prophetic’ is to speak God’s word into our context. It is what the biblical prophets did. For Christians it is to proclaim the
Good News into our specific situation. It is to challenge our society.
'Dialogue' is to engage with others in respectful conversation with the desire to learn and to share. A dialogical
conversation is marked by courtesy and patience, never by aggression or arrogance. Dialogue is a form of love.
PROPHETIC DIALOGUE means speaking boldly and yet humbly. It means that Christians can share the Good News of
Jesus—being prophetic, speaking God’s Word to those around us—but that we need to do it in humble conversation with
other people, other cultures and other faiths. We do not ‘drop God’s Word on others’ as if we are superior, or better than
others.
One common term was 'Followers of the Way', other people used the term witness. Probably the most common term for
those who we now call Christians was disciples.
Disciple simply means follower, in other words a follower of Christ.
Throughout the Gospels we see over and over again when Jesus calls out to people with two simple words, "Follow me!",
but there is one moment, where Jesus describes in more detail what it actually means to follow Him. Jesus says “If
anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me." (Luke 9:23)
