COMPANY BACKGROUND

COMPANY PROFILE

The USC Training Hotel is also known as The Carolinian Inn or popularly known as "SCHOTEL
(school-hotel)". The USC Training Hotel is located at the second floor of the Fr.Joseph Watzlawik
Building. It was built and designed to give the students of the Department of Hospitality and
Management (DHM) a chance to work hands-on in an actual hotel atmosphere.

The front office is the major department of the hotel. It is situated at the front part of the hotel and
its duty is to sale the rooms of the hotels after registration and handover key to the guest. It is the
"showcase window" of the hotel which reflects the image of the hotel. Revenue collected from the
selling of rooms contributes more than 50% of the hotel total sale. The function of this department
is to allocate rooms to the guest and acts as a continuous source of information to the guest staying
at the hotel.

The duty of the front office department of the USC Training Hotel is to develop and maintain up-
to-date record on guest information, guest service, and ensure guest's satisfaction. It is responsible
for welcoming the guest, greeting the guest, and handling the guest complaints. Hence, the staffs
working in the department performs as an actor on the stage.

The front office maybe divided into more than one section, each of which carries out one or more
duties: the Reception, Information, Cashier, Reservation, Telephone operation and Bell Desk
Section department upon the size capacity and standard of the hotel establishment.

The basic function of the front office of the USC Training hotel includes the following:
• To sell rooms
• To reserve rooms for guests before their arrival
• To register guests into the hotel
• To assign rooms
• To coordinate with other services
• The provide in-house and external information to guests
• To maintain accurate room status information
• To maintain accounts of the guest and settle their bills

and desires to be the training center for hospitality skills.

are experienced by our guests. We deliver the finest personalize service yet remain the academic
ambiance. We emphasize high quality standard in all areas of hospitality services by providing
competent and accredited trainers.

Also, our mission is to be responsible for a fair return on investment for our owners and recognize
that this cannot be done without well-trained, motivated, and enthusiastic student employees.
