Directions to do I999 Tracking / Amazon Product Research - By Camron James

1. Use the template for “meditation cushion” to get started. http://bit.ly/I999ExcelTemplate

2. Make a new sheet/tab on the google sheet with blank template and rename to the
keyword you will be tracking. (Use Highest Volume & Highest Relevant Keyword)
3. Once you have your new sheet started, you will type in your keyword into Amazon.com
to find all the information you need.
4. When typing in a keyword, make sure you are always under the “all” or “all department”
category. Everytime you click on a new product it changes this bar into the current
category of the product you’ve selected. So before you search for the next keyword be
sure to select “all departments” again
5. You will research the top 10 products on amazon for that keyword. You will ignore and
skip all “sponsored listings”.

6. You will then fill out all of the information on the google sheet for each of the top 10
products. Please refer to the example sheet of “meditation cushion” to see what
information you need to fill out.
7. To find the FBA Fees, you will need to go to
https://sellercentral.amazon.com/fba/profitabilitycalculator/index?lang=en_US
● Here you will enter in the ASIN. The correct ASIN will be in the URL and use the
following format: “/dp/[ASIN]”. If there are variations that pop up and give you
options, just make sure that the prices and product are the same. It is usually
best to just select the first option. If any variation contains a different product or
price, please make note of this in the sheet including it’s different fees and prices
● Then you will enter the original retail price of the product under the “Amazon
Fulfillment” column.
● Then push calculate on the bottom of the page.
● You will then add together “Selling on Amazon Fees” and “Total Fulfillment
Costs”
● The total price of these will be your FBA Fees
8. Once all the information is filled out, you will begin the I999 Tracking for each product
and you will need to do this everyday (preferably at around the same time) to properly
track their stock.
9. You will do this by adding the product (with all the variations, if there are any) to your
amazon cart. You will then try to add 999 of the product to your cart by selecting the
“10+” on the drop down under quantity. This will tell you how many left they have in
stock. You will record this number onto the sheet with the time and date and hit enter.
You will do this every day, and this will help us track how many they sell over time.

Please use the pictures below for help:

For the example above, you would enter “109” on your sheet with your date and time. Then you
will return the next day to check stock again, and the difference will be the sales over that day!
When you put 10-14 days together you will get a pretty clear picture of their daily sales.

After you have done this you will want to reset the quantity to “1” for the product you just entered
“999” for. Your Amazon cart can only hold 1000 items total. So to properly use the “999”
method you need to make sure your cart is not full with other things. (Example Photo below)
Other Exceptions to the task:

- A lot of items will have “max order quantities” that look like this when you try to enter in “999”:
If the max order quantity is under 300 you no longer have to track that item, just make a note of
the max order quantity. Most likely means other private label sellers are in the niche.

- A lot of items will have over 999 in stock which makes tracking it tough. If it allows you to enter
in “999” then that means that they have 999 or over in their stock. Please track these for 5 days
and if the numbers do not change after 5 days, you may stop tracking them. The only exception
to continue tracking that item past 5 days is below.
- Continue to track the ones with 999 for the full time, which is 14 days, only if the product is in
the top 3 of the 10 for that keyword

Example picture below:

- When the seller has a subscribe and save option on their page, you need to select the “one
time purchase” to add to your cart.

- If the product has a variation you will need to track each one and if they have a seperate price
please place it here:

One Last Thing To Note: Same Seller Name Each Day

- There will be rare occasions where two or more sellers are selling the same item on one
product page. If this occurs, we need to figure out who is the main/original seller, and
only track their stock count each day. Different sellers will have different amounts of
stock, which will make the tracking data inaccurate.
- Please copy and paste the link of the seller name that you encounter when first tracking
a product. The main seller will be the name that shows up most often. If there is a
product that has a different name showing up frequently, please note this on the excel
sheet as we need this information to use the data properly.
- Seller name cannot be found within the cart, the original listing is the only way to check.
