RE: “Meet the Hawks” Promotional Video Series Proposal

The “Meet the Hawks” Promotional Video Series would consist of a variety of student-athletes
being interviewed and asked questions regarding their academics, sports career and other fun facts. The
purpose of this proposal is to allow Susquehanna University athletic fans to connect with and learn more
about the student-athletes as the athletes show their personalities through fun interviews conducted by
other Susquehanna students. Unlike typical interviews, the “Meet the Hawks” videos would be a more
fun and less serious type of interview that would capture the fans attention and create a close and
personal connection between the athletes and the Susquehanna community, just like other aspects of
Susquehanna.

These videos would be produced by the Communications Department as a part of students’

Independent Study program or Communications practicum throughout all sports seasons and would be
between one to two minutes long. The videos would take place all over campus, both indoors and
outdoors, usually at a location that represents the athlete’s sport. The videos would consist of at least 4
questions from different categories such as this and that, semi-serious, sport-focused and Susquehanna
knowledge. Examples of the questions being asked can include “If you could be any food, what would
you be and why?” and “What is one word your coach would use to describe you?” In the opening of the
video, the Riverhawk logo will appear along with music and the “Meet the Hawks” title page and
athletes would introduce themselves and which sport(s) they play at Susquehanna. The video will
include animations, sound effects and pictures based off the student-athletes’ answers to add to the
goofiness of the videos being created. Depending on the answers that the athletes give, PhotoShop and
other editing tools can be used to further depict and illustrate the answers given, which adds to the
overall fun vibe of the video series. The videos would end with the Riverhawk logo and music.

Since Susquehanna is a supportive and close-knit community, the “Meet the Hawks” videos
would showcase the differences and similarities of the student-athletes even though they all are
Riverhawks. These videos would create closer relationships between the fans and the athletes which will
lead to a stronger and more supportive fan base at Susquehanna.
