First of all I am grateful to the School Education Department of District Sahiwal for successfully
arranging the elections for students school council. I also thank honourable Assisstant Education
Officer Sir Zaheer ( Markez Burjwala A) for his kind association as well as supervision. His
exemplary guidance, constant encouragement and careful monitoring throughout the election is
so great that even most profound gratitude is not enough.
I would also like to thank my team and my respected staff members for the fair and transparent
election of Student’s School Council. Without their efforts it would not have been possible.
Leadership means having the self-confidence to believe you can make a difference, the passion
to believe it matters, and the courage to risk it all because you believe it matters.” I on the behalf
of my team congratulate all the winners and wish them success in future as well so that they can
positively contribute for the betterment of school.

Students School Council

Purpose
The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by
organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events
that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of
the student body.

School Council Is Important because:

A school council can provide a meaningful way in which pupils can voice their opinions and
have their views taken into account in decisions which impact upon them. ... It is
an important and useful way for schools to provide leadership and development opportunities
for their pupils.

Key functions
The school council has particular functions in setting and monitoring
the school's direction. School councils have the main responsibilities:

• as a President to control and maintain overall discipline of school

• as a Vice President to assist president in various activities

• as a Finance Secretary/General Secretary : overseeing the development of

the school's annual budget and ensuring proper records are kept of the school's financial
operations.

• as a Media advisor to help students creating positive awareness about the use of media
and helping them in publishing and online material created by the students at school level
and in the students magazine.

• As a Prefect to create a link between class and other school council members.
Summary
Election was planned according to the orders of higher authorities on 14th November, 2019.
Everything was planned and scheduled before the day of election. The purpose of student’s
school council was told to students and teachers and teachers created awareness among the
students about the right of casting votes fairly. Students were told about the different
designations and students filled their application forms for the concerned posts keeping in view
their abilities and interests. Teachers also helped them in filling the application forms. Students
submitted their applications forms on due date. Students selected their symbols and were
finalized with the help of teachers. Election campaign was held at school level and the candidates
shared their ambitions and tried their best to convince the students to cast votes in their favour.
An Election Commission was established in which senior teachers were given the responsibility
of Election Commissioner, Appellate Authority, Presiding Officer, and Assistant Presiding
Officer. Election Commissioner provided all the necessary material to the staff members
required for the election. Teachers designed the ballot papers and prepared the voters list. On the
day of election everyone was very excited and enthusiastic. Polling booth was established, ballot
boxes were placed and everything was well organized and disciplined. Voting began at 9:30 am
and students came one by one class wise to cast the votes. Polling agents and teachers were also
there to monitor the whole activity as well as to ensure the fairness in vote casting. There was a
long voters list and a long line of voters. The whole activity went smoothly under the guidance of
teachers and finally polling was closed at 12:30 pm. Ballot boxes were sealed and polling booth
was closed. After some time the time came when counting session began. Ballot boxes were
opened and counting began. Candidates were anxiously waiting for the results. After carefully
counting and reviewing each and every paper the results were noted down. Results were
announced unofficially. Few students were saddened and majority was happy with the results but
teachers told them and guide them the spirit of game and competition as well help them in
developing democratic attitude in students. The whole activity was completed successfully and
peacefully and results were shared in soft copy to the concerned authorities.
