KARACHI
Under the auspices of Karachi Branch Council, students of ICMAP organized “18th
Management Accounting Students’ Conference-2005” on October 01, 2005 at hotel
Marriott, Karachi. The theme of the conference was “Challenges in WTO Regime”.
Mr. Sher Afgan Malik was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The conference
consisted of following four technical sessions:
The technical paper presented by Ms. Aisha Javed of Professional-IV stage was
declared to be the best technical paper.

FCMA and Prof. Nizamuddin acted as the judges on the occasion.
M/s Imran Nawaz, Ahmad Shabbir, and Chaudhary Imran Wali were declared to be
1st, 2nd and 3rd in the competition.
Earlier the address of welcome was presented by Mr. Tariq Saeed, FCMA, the
Advisor Central Region. In his address, he urged the students to develop soft skills
i.e. communication skills, personality development etc for success in career. He
added that in addition to attainment of technical competencies and skills, the
students should have the soft skills to perform better as employees or consultants.
Mr. Faryad Hussain Malik, FCMA and Prof. Nizam ud Din also shared their views on
the occasion.

MEHFIL-E-NAAT KHWANI
A Mehfil-e-Naat Khawani was held at ICMAP, Lahore centre on October 20, 2005.
Naats were presented by the following employee and students of the Institute:
At the end, Mirza Munawar Hussain, FCMA, Chairman, Lahore Branch Council presented a
few verses, written by him. He stated that Islam prescribes a complete code of life. In other
words, it prescribes ethics in all areas of life. Ethics is especially important for the
Management Accounting profession. Behaving ethically is in essence compliance with the
rules laid down by Islam.

ISLAMABAD
The keynote speaker on this occasion was Mr. Abbas Ali Mirza who is the chairman
of UNCTAD’s Intergovernmental Working Group of Experts on International
Standards of Accounting & Reporting (“ISAR”), to which position he was elected at
the 21st session of the “ISAR” held in October 2004 at the United Nations
Conference on Trade & Development (“UNCTAD”) in Geneva.
Those who read technical papers in the conference included Mr. Muhammad Abdul
Hannan Mian from Bangladesh, Mr. Debasis Baghchi, Mr. Siddhatha Sen and Mr.
N.K. Jain from India and Mr. Ahmed Saeed, Mr. Muhammad Hanif, Mr. Ale Imran
Siddiqui and Mr. Yusuf Shirazi from Pakistan. Mr. Mushahid Hussain Syed,
Chairman, Foreign Affairs Committee was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
