MAED 511A – EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY

I. COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to investigate theories and researches undertaken in the


study and practice of psychology in teaching and learning theories and practices in
schools. The course has two goals: (1) to analyze the development of theories and
practices in psychology, and (2) to compare and contrast different schools of
thoughts and their influences in modern educational settings.

II. LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, the graduate student should at a minimum be able to
competently discuss:

1. The nature and role of educational psychology in leading the schools in the 21st
2. Use research methods and techniques in confronting and communicating various
challenges in modern day school organization anchored on the latest findings in
educational psychology;
3. The essential role of psychology in different types of school organization;
4. Theories on classic and modern educational psychology.

Note: Late submission of course requirements is not allowed.
Absences with valid reasons must be no more than 25% of the number of equivalents
