B. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides topics on terms and definition of TEFL, various methods,
approaches, and techniques for TEFL, current methods of teaching and learning, and
principles of teaching English as a Foreign Language in teaching language skills (i.e.
listening, speaking, reading, and writing) and language components (pronunciation,
grammar, and vocabulary). Students not only learn the concept of basic terms in TEFL and
its principles, but they also learn how to practice the principles correctly and effectively in
microteaching or mini lesson practices with peers. Thus, they are able to apply these
theoretical and practical knowledge next when they have pre-service teacher program.
C. COURSE OBJECTIVES
After completing the course, the students are expected to have the skills and
knowledge of the principles and techniques of teaching and learning process relevant to
their future job as teachers of EFL in Indonesia.
