MSB Preparation for Bow Thruster

When Bow thruster request When using Shaft generator

indicator is ON to run for Bow Thruster

Standby generator will CQF 2 (No.2 Bus tie ACB)

start automatic – must be OFF
synchronize with running
generator and ACB will
close

Manually push the button

of Bow thruster request
CQF 2 and Bow thruster on MSB (Bow thruster
ACBs will be closed panel)
Automatic

Bow thruster ACB will be

closed Automatic
Start Ready light will
be lit on MSB

Start Ready light will

be lit on MSB
 Bow Thruster Starting Procedure
Bow Thruster can be
started from three location
Base on Setting of Selector
Switch on Starter Panel in
Forward Bow Thruster Panel
1. It can be started from
Bridge
2. It can be started from
Starter Panel
3. It can be started from
Local Panel near Bow
Thruster motor (Just
starting of fan; hydraulic
pump and Main motor)
The Bow Thruster must be
started in sequence
1. Bow Thruster room fan
must be started - First
2. Hydraulic pump must be
started – Second
3. Then Main motor can be
started
Select Power request
either on Bridge Panel
and Starter Panel
(Local Panel – not
available)
Wait for Power Available and
Ready to start indicator lit
either on Bridge Panel and
Starter Panel
1. Start fan
2. Start hydraulic pump
3. Start main motor
Now Bow Thruster
can be operated from
the Bridge – at three
locations
For Emergency Operation
Communicate with Bridge
Push the solenoid valve of hydraulic
pump unit – Port or Stb direction as
indicated on Solenoid valve – as order
from Bridge – stop pushing when
desire pitch reach
