DAILY LESSON LOG S.Y. 2017-2018
School LAKEVIEW INTEGRATED SCHOOL Grade Level Grade 7
Teacher REA R. QUEZADA Learning Area Science
Teaching Dates July 4, 2017 Quarter FIRST
and Time

I. OBJECTIVES Tuesday
A. Content Standard The Learners demonstrate an understanding of scientific ways of some
important properties of solutions.
B. Performance Standard The Learners demonstrate an understanding of preparing different
concentrations of mixtures according to uses and availability of
materials.
C. Learning Competencies/ Investigate properties of unsaturated or saturated solutions; S7MT-Ic-2
Objectives (Write the LC Code  describe matter
for each)  identify the properties of matter

II. CONTENT MATTER

 Matter – is anything that occupies space and it
has mass and volume.
1. Mass – is the amt. of matter in
an object.
2. Weight – is the gravitational
pull of the earth on its mass.
3. Volume – is the amt. of space
it occupies.
 States/Phases
 Solid
 Liquid
 Gas
 Plasma
 Bose-Einstein Condensate
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide pages
2. Learners Materials pages
3. Textbook pages
4. Additional Materials from EASE Module 3 Classifying Matter as Pure Subtances

B. Other Resources Tarpapel, Pictures, http://seplessons.ucsf.edu/node/351
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or What does our world made of?
presenting the new lesson
B. Establishing a purpose for the Show students different types of matter.
lesson
C. Presenting examples/ 1. Put a stone in the first plastic bag and seal it. Ask the students to

instances of the new lesson squeeze and press the bag. What happens? Let them try to bend the
stone to change its shape. Ask them why they cannot bend the stone.

2. Put water in the second plastic bag and then seal it. Tell students to
observe the water in the bag carefully. Ask a representative to gently
squeeze the bag of water. Does the shape of water change?

3. Blow air into the third plastic bag and seal it. Gently press the plastic
bag. Does the shape of the air change? Open the bag to release the
air. What happens?

D. Discussing new concepts and 1.Describe the color, shape, size, and texture of the index card.
practicing new skills #1
2. Fold the index card in half along the long side.
3. Starting at one end, make cuts about 1/4 inch apart, alternating from
the folded edge to the open edge. All cuts are to stop 1/4 inch from the
edge.
4. Slip the point of the scissors under the fold at point A and cut the
fold until you reach point B. DO NOT cut the fold on the two end
pieces.
5. Carefully stretch the card open to form a large chain.
6. Observe the physical properties again: size, color, shape, texture.
E. Discussing new concepts and Guide Questions:
practicing new skills #2 1. How do you describe matter?
2. How do you differentiate the states of matter?
3. What are the properties of matter?
F. Developing Mastery (Leads to o What is matter?
formative assessment 3) o What are the states of matter?

G. Finding practical application Give an example of activities of the changes in matter observe in daily
of concepts and skills in daily life.
living
H. Making Generalization and 1. How do you describe matter?
abstraction about the lesson 2. How do you differentiate the states of matter?
3. What are the properties of matter?
4. How can we observe physical properties and their changes?
Answer the questions by completing the statement: I have learned that
