Pest Control Procedure For Pharma
E 2.1.1
There is an effective written pest control program for the premises and equipment that
includes:
The name of the person at the manufacturer assigned responsibility for pest
control.
Where applicable, the name of the pest control company or the name of the
person contracted for the pest control program.
Outline how pests are controlled in the establishment.
The list of chemicals used, the concentration in accordance with label
instructions, the location where applied, method and frequency of application.
A map of pest control devices which are monitored to ensure that the needs of the
establishment are met.
Standard - describes pest control program including controls for rodents, insects, birds,
pets etc. Criteria must describe how monitoring is conducted by the establishment or
outside contractor. Also includes applicable pest control devices and their locations (e.g.
maps) and chemical application, if applicable.
Frequency:
All exterior and interior traps and fly lights are verified once a month by an outside
contractor. QA Technician checks interior traps and fly lights every other week.
Persons Responsible:
Green Valley Pest Control Qualified Technician (every two weeks)
Monitoring Procedure:
1. Pest control contractor inspects both exterior and interior premises for evidence of
pests. Catch-all Traps are checked for pests. Green Valley Pest Control Qualified
Technician and QA Technician shall check date and sign off on labels inside all traps.
Bait station and trap location map and Copy of Applicators Certificate is
provided.
The name of the person assigned responsibility for pest control: QA Manager
The name of the pest control company contracted for the pest control program: Green
Valley Pest Control
A map indicating the location of pest control devices: (see Green Valley Pest
Control Program).
2. The following are company standards for catch-all traps, bait stations and electric
flying insect eradicators:
a. Rodent control procedure: All exterior bait stations contain poison. Bait stations should
be secured to the cement block to prevent them from blowing away. Bait stations are to
be placed tight to wall with opening parallel and nearest to wall. Only registered
poisonous bait may be used and only on exterior premises of the building. Bait stations
should be inspected every two weeks, unless a need for increased inspections occurs.
When inspecting bait stations, take a small garbage can to dispose of old empty packages
immediately. Then dump directly into outside dumpster. All half full, or less than half
full, packages should be disposed of and restocked with new packages. Be careful when
removing the top as not to detach it from the cement block. Also, when putting the top
on, make sure it is secured down. Always monitor that the 18-inch path is maintained.
b. Bird control: Monitor the activities of birds; any bird activity is prohibited near and
around any food, containers, and process areas.
Corrective Action:
4. If there is presence of rodent activity, QA will immediately call Green Valley Pest
Control and determine next course of action.
5. QA Department will retrain employees found not following the procedures in this
SOP.
Verification:
The QA Manager will initial and date completed Contractors’ Report and sign off twice
monthly to verify completion of work. Once a month the QA Manager will accompany
Pest Control Technician to ensure the work is done.

To lay out the procedure of the Pest & Rodent control in the manufacturing Plant.
Scope :-
The SOP is applicable for Pest & Rodent control in the manufacturing Plant.
Responsibility :-
Housekeeping department officer/Executives shall be Responsible for effective
application OF SOP For Pest & Rodent Control.
Procedure :-
All Pest control activity shall be done by outside pest control agency.
Annual contract shall be done with outside pest control agency.
The pest control activity shall be performed on weekly basis.
The name of the pest control company or the name of the person
contracted for the pest control program shall be mentioned on agreement.
Agreement of pest control activity shall be done for yearly/two yearly or as
per need basis.
Outline of Pest control shall established.
The list of chemicals used, the concentration in accordance with label
instructions, the location where applied, method and frequency of application
shall be mentioned in Agreement.
A map of pest control devices which are monitored to ensure that the
needs of the establishment are met shall be done.

trained and must wear proper gown, nose mask, hand gloves & shoe cover.
Storage of pesticide shall not be permitted in manufacturing premises.
Only emulsifiable concentrate grade pesticides with known antidote shall
be allows to use as per instructions mentioned in Agreement.

Rodent control:-
1. The “Glue Pad” shall be placed inside the Roda box for controlling the
rodents by the contractor’s trained personnel fortnightly and record shall be
maintained.
2. Roda Boxes shall be inspected every week, unless a need for increased
inspections occurs. There are X traps in the plant (this could be increased).
3. In house inspection of Roda boxes shall be done by housekeeping
personnel.
4. While doing the inspection, check to ensure the 18-inch border next to the
wall is clear of material. If not, remove material to maintain.
5. Rodent shall bury and records shall be maintain.
Insect control:-
1. For controlling the insects, Insectocutor shall be placed at each entry point
and wherever necessary.
2. Insects controlled by electric flying insect eradicators. All lights shall be
remain on 24 hours a day.
3. Catch trays shall be emptied under electrostatic units weekly while sticky
pads should be monitored and replaced when needed.
4. The numbers of insect and their type shall be count daily and their record
shall be maintain.
5. Insectocutor try shall clean on daily basis and the killed insect shall bury &
record shall maintain accordingly.
Safety Precautions :-
The insecticides/ Pesticides used are highly toxic and so avoid contact
with skin and eyes.
Inhalation should be avoided during spraying.
Oral ingestion to be avoided.
In case of poisoning antidotes shall be available in manufacturing plant.

2.0 Objective : To Provide Documented Procedure for Pest and Rodent control.
3.0 Scope : This procedure is applicable to Control of Pest and Rodents in the plant.
4.0 Responsibility :
Primary: Officer – House keeping supervisor
Secondary: Officer – QA / Officer-Store

5.0 Procedure :
House Pest Management:
This treatment is for the management of cockroaches and other pests such as silver fish, red and
black ants.
This treatment mainly comprise of a through insecticidal spray in all the nooks and corners of the
entire premises and other vulnerable places harboring cockroaches and other insects.
The treatment is based on the use of gel bait i.e. Goliath Gel and water based Deltamethrin,
Cyfluthrin done by authorized PCA person only.
Rodent Control:
This treatment is for the management of rodent’s i.e. rats, mice, etc in the Plant ground floor, First
floor and in Quality control department.
Roda boxes are kept around the periphery of the main building and utility block with bromodioline
0.005% as bait. Our policy is to carry out cleaning after the end of each process, so that the
equipment is clean and ready for the next use.

Roda boxes should not be used inside the building. Rodent bait is used only on the exteriors of
buildings and that in PCA’s tamper proof bait stations units.
For indoor control of rats and mice, Gum Glue board traps are used.
No food or poison baits are used and the catch can be disposed off without the dead mouse or rat
causing odor / contamination problems from in accessible production areas.
The placement of the glue boards will be along the walls in all areas close to doors and other
openings into an area.
