the company. Likewise, this department also works for regular upgrading and

Business level strategy is a master plan that strategies the detailed actions to
be taken to provide value to customers and gain a competitive advantage by
exploiting core competencies in specific, individual product or service markets.
There are five generic strategies that firms may choose to compete across a broad
market or a focused market. They are: Cost leadership, differentiation, focused cost
leadership, focused differentiation and integrated cost leadership/differentiation.
IMS has determined some of the objectives to accomplish the mission in today’s
competitive, complex and dynamic environment. These objectives are:
To cater all the major stakeholders of financial market under one platform.
To find ways and means to ensure customer satisfaction through the use of
Information & Technology of 21st Century.
To provide a conductive work environment and creating opportunities of
growth and development for our stakeholders.
To make alliances with various likely minded institutions for the growth and
development of the Capital market of Nepal.
Internship is the period where an intern not only gets to experience the work
culture and environment in an organization but also gets to expand their horizon of
knowledge. While joining the team of IMS, I had expected to enhance on my
academic knowledge while working directly with the team that is working on the
financial horizon from half a decade. Also, I was willing to contribute the best of
my abilities to the team and company. I was working under the supervision of Mr.
Sandeep Bikram Rana, managing director of the company. He is one of the well-
known subject matter expert in financial sector. Working under his supervision, I got
to broaden my knowledge relating to the banking as well as other financial sectors.
The working environment of the company was very different from the one I
last worked with. My previous company was large IT company in Bangalore, which
means there was clear hierarchy and procedures that I needed to follow. Everything
was systematic and was bureaucratic. However, in IMS the working environment of
the company was very friendly. It was mostly like a start-up set up. As the company
was small in size, the flow of information was direct among the employees and top
level people. The top level executives, i.e. MDs, directly interacted with the
employees and assisted in the work by directly visiting their workstations.
Employees could even approach the directors in their cabins and take advice from
them. There was high respect for each other’s work and appreciation was given
where it is due.
To conclude I can say that this internship at IMS has helped me grow
personally and professionally. I was able to enhance my personal, academic and
professional skills. The main thing I need to work out is boosting my confidence
level and I believe that with time and more experience I will achieve that too.
