Rifqaiza Pravangesta introduces herself as a Japanese studies scholar who enjoys reading literature, especially Japanese works. She runs an online bookshop selling literature and nonfiction books. She is interested in Rikkyo University's student exchange program because Rikkyo has great access to literature and resources to support her research interests. Her research plan involves continuing her thesis studying Japanese community and culture from a sociological and psychological perspective. Specifically, she examines how Japanese culture and behaviors portrayed in literature can psychologically and sociologically influence others. Participating in the Rikkyo student exchange program would provide valuable first-hand empirical experience to help advance her thesis on Japanese sociology.

My name is Rifqaiza Pravangesta. As a Japanese Studies scholar, I enjoyed reading
literature works written by Japanese writer. But not just Japanese literature, but literature in common has been my hobby, I loved reading, writing, reviewing, recommending, selling and buying books. I have an online shop for selling a lot of literature and/or nonfiction books. I think Rikkyo University really could afford great access to literature more than Unpad and that’s why I’m interested for joining this student exchange program. Well known as top 6 research institution in Tokyo, Rikkyo must have a lot of references related for doing research. I am already interested to continuing study in Japan, therefore I have research plan about literature that I wish I can work for it in Rikkyo. This research plan could be a follow-through from my current thesis project, that discussing about Japanese community in sociological and psychological term. I have studied that Japanese really shows different behavior from Indonesian. And that is influenced by their nature, their culture. Such as wabi sabi, bushido, amae, and the others. Interestingly, Japanese literature works portray that kind of behavior. My thesis contains a question, why Japanese could change another person psychologically and sociologically? How? Is there any social pressure? We could read it on reference book but what we get is just a theory. That is why empirical experience is a must because the only way you could learn a specific community/society is experiencing it in the first place. Therefore, I think by applying Rikkyo University Student Exchange Program, that will help my thesis on Japanese sociology by getting empirical experience there. Thank you for your attention and have a good day.
