Dear Visitors,
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Dutch Placement Days 2019 in Surabaya (29 October)
and Jakarta (1 November). The Dutch Placement Days will focus exclusively on the
Netherlands as the preferred destination to study abroad. This year we have 22 Dutch Higher
Institutions present during these events.

Studying abroad is an exciting prospect that can have a great positive impact on the future life
and career of a student. But it also requires a significant investment in terms of time and
resources. During the Dutch Placement Days, you have ample opportunities to meet up with
a large and diverse selection of higher education institutions from the Netherlands. We invite
you to make use of their presence to gather all the information you need to prepare yourself
for your next steps.

If you decide to study in the Netherlands, you can expect to take part in a world-class higher
education system. With 11 universities in the top 200 of the World University rankings of 2019.
For a relatively small country this is a great achievement.

The Netherlands’ higher education sector provides a very internationally oriented learning
environment. We are happy to welcome students from all cultures and religions. You will join
a dynamic, diverse community of staff and students. The strong international orientation of the
Dutch economy and society explains why the Netherlands was the first country in continental
Europe to offer degrees in English. Nowadays, we offer a wide variety of English-taught
programmes. Dutch people have a reputation for speaking English fluently.

For Indonesian students there is an additional reason to consider the Netherlands. Our
countries share a long history together, which continues to be reflected in many parts of
everyday life. You will find many Indonesian words in the Dutch language and vice versa.
Indonesian food is widely available in the Netherlands, both in restaurants and in shops. The
Indonesian Student Association in the Netherlands, Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia di
Belanda, is active in all major university towns. Indonesian students usually soon feel at home
in the Netherlands. While in the Netherlands, it is easy to travel elsewhere in Europe, both for
studies and leisure. It takes only a few hours to get to cities like Paris, London, Berlin, Prague,
Barcelona or Rome. The harmonized credit transfer system between Universities in the
European Union makes it easy to earn credits for your Dutch degree almost anywhere in
Europe. The Netherlands offers a great experience for Indonesian students!
