STORYTELLING COMPETITION

Contest Mechanics and Criteria

OBJECTIVES

1. To give students the opportunity to use English in an interesting, authentic and


a creative manner.
2. To enhance and improve the listening and speaking skills.
3. To instill students’ interest in reading and writing in English.

MECHANICS

1. Only ONE contestant will represent from each grade level.


2. Before the day of the competition, contestants will be provided by the facilitators
with same story or piece to be delivered orally.
3. The contestants are required to wear complete uniform during the contest.
Costumes, props and sound effects are not allowed.
4. Time allocated to present the story is 4-6 minutes.
5. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.

CRITERIA:

Pronunciation – 30 %
(Articulation, intonation)
Fluency – 30 %
(Pace, voice quality, vocal expression)
Performance – 30 %
(Confidence, gesture, facial expression)
Over-all Impact – 10 %__
