Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

When using the whiteboard students will watch the movie and understand what the different seasons are.
The first half of the movie constant of a movie and after that it gives the child pictures and text of what each
season mean and what each season looks like. The tools used enhance the students experience is the
whiteboard because the video gives students a clear understanding of seasons. This will engage students
because the movie allows them to see pictures of the different seasons.

Lesson idea implementation:

The students will watch the video about season from Sid the science kids. Once we have finished the video
the teacher will explain the different seasons again. Once we review the season students will grab their
journals. In their journals they will draw something on each page that represents the words winter, Summer,
Spring and Fall. I would introduce the project by showing the Sid the Science kid video. It will take 20 minutes
to complete this project.
The project will be extended by having the students go outside on a nature walk to explore what season it is
that day. I would also like to make a video that allowing the students to showcase their favorite seasons. They
will be able to say one sentence about their season. I would provide feedback by looking at their journals and
write feedback and I would also like to post the video to my classroom blog.

Importance of technology:
It is important to use video, so students are able to get a visual picture of what the seasons look like. They
also are able to read off of the screen like subtitles. Yes, this project and be created without technology by
using the board to help develop pictures for the child. When not using technology, students lose the real-life
pictures that goes along with this topic along with the educational video from PBS kids.

MultiMedia Tools
I used both music and videos from another website to make a movie. I used part of a video that students
may find interesting because it relates more to what they understand. I also used pictures that are colorful
and allow the students to feel like they can be in that same environment.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy:

When developing the movie, the issue would be putting the students face online. In order to minimize the risk
for students we can not use students name along with not disclosing the location of the school or classroom.
It is also very important that we receive constant from parents. I will make the YouTube or Adobe Spark Video
online available when sending the link or I can post the video in a password protected page on classroom
blog.

Reflective Practice:
This activity gives students insight about seasons. To extend the project I would record the classroom video.
This will allow the students to think about each season and how to represent it. Students will be able to see
their work on the big screen. I think they will feel happy about being able to work together to make a movie
and sure with family.
