ANNEX‐ 3

Shell‐ Bottom Joint Strength Check as per EN 14015 Annex‐K
(For Tank with Shell‐Roof Joint Frangible)

Given Design Int. Vapour Pressure Pi = 1529.6 mm of water

Internal Dia of Tank DF = 16000 mm

Internal Dia of Tank For Calculation Dr = 16000 mm

Annular Plate Thickness ea = 10 mm (corroded)

Upper course Thickness ecyl = 17 mm (uncorroded)

Lower course Thickness ecylb = 10 mm (corroded)

Reinforcing Ring Thickness ering = 10 mm (uncorroded)

Reinforcing Ring Thickness eroof = 11 mm (uncorroded)

Radius of Dome Roof R1 = 17600 mm

Angle of Roof with horizontal  = 27.03569 deg 0.471862 rad

Unstiffened Length

NOTE :-
It should be noted that for stength of shell-bottom joint anchor is provided to keep shell
to bottom joint in tact.Attachement of bolt to shell is calculated and shown that stresses in shell
at attachment point is strong enough. ( Refer anchorage/uplift calculation -
Clause 16 of main calculation)
