FABRICATION
Group 2:
In the group (3) three report they explained the types of welds there
are some types of it that I learn. Fillet welding refers to the process of
joining two pieces of metal together whether they be perpendicular or at an
angle. These welds are commonly referred to as Tee joints which are two
pieces of metal perpendicular to each other or Lap joints which are two
pieces of metal that overlap and are welded at the edges. The throat of
a fillet weld, which is used in calculating its strength, is defined as the
distance between the root and face of the weld. The leg of a fillet weld is
used to specify its size in the weld symbol that is what I learn to them.
Surfacing is a welding process used to apply a hard, wear-resistant layer of
metal to surfaces or edges of worn-out parts. It is one of the most
economical methods of conserving and extending the life of machines,
tools, and construction equipment.
Group 3:
Therefore there are five basic weld joints include the butt joint, the
lap joint, the tee joint, the corner joint, and the edge joint. The
butt joint occurs when two metal a joint formed by two surfaces abutting at
right angles are placed side-by-side or butted together. Lap joint a joint
made with two pieces of metal, timber, etc., by halving the thickness of
each member at the joint and fitting them together. Tee joint are used to
weld two plates or sections whose surfaces are located approximately 90°
to each other at the joint. The included angle of bevel in the preparation
of tee joints is approximately half that required for butt joints.
Group 4:
Double U butt joint is a double welded butt joint created when
the weld has been welded from both sides.
Square butt joint a square-groove is a butt welding joint with the two
pieces being flat and parallel to each other. ... The closed square butt
weld is a type of square- groove joint with no spacing in between the
pieces. This joint type is common with gas and arc welding.
Single U butt joint Single butt welds are similar to a bevel joint, but
instead of only one side having the bevelled edge, both sides of the weld
joint are bevelled. In thick metals, and when welding can be performed
from both sides of the work piece, a double-V joint is used. That is what I’ve
learn in our report.
