Age: Aerospace Engineering Adults (In Japan; 18 students)

Level: Advanced II

Time: 20 minutes

Skills: teamwork, vocabulary, speaking

Materials: timer, worksheet #1, worksheet #2(for teacher)

Students will: learn about aerospace engineering terminology through group and team work
(important part of culture).

Procedure (20 minutes):


 Ask students to pair up into group of 3. Explain the idea of a crossword puzzle. The
students will have ten minutes to complete the activity conclusively. It is a competition
to see how swiftly and adeptly students can communicate to complete the activity and
be the first group to finish. Winner? Bragging rights. (5 minutes)
o Explain the purpose of this activity to highlight the key vocab words that have
been studied in previous chapters.
o Pass worksheet #1 to students.
 Students will have 10 minutes to complete. (10 minutes)
 Afterwards, provide a quick verbal survey (micro-evaluation). What did the students
like? What didn’t they like? How could it be better for next time? Overall rating of the
activity out of 5? (5 minutes)
