 Analyze the representation of a subject or a key scene in two different artistic mediums, including what is
emphasized or absent in each treatment.
Objective (Explicit):
 SWBAT demonstrate their understanding of perceived gender roles by comparing their idea of the gender
roles against the artistic mediums provided by the teacher: media via Disney songs and a written poem.
Evidence of Mastery (Measurable):
 Include a copy of the lesson assessment.
 Provide exemplar student responses with the level of detail you expect to see.
 Assign value to each portion of the response.
Students will be able to differentiate between male and female gender roles in American society. They will be able
to compare and contrast differing gender roles for men and women in the 1950s, and men and women in the 21st
century. The two mediums, a YouTube video and a poem, will help them conclude their thoughts.

Students will collaborate with their tables and compare the gender roles/stereotypes for
both men and women throughout the years. Once they are done collaborating, we will
discuss as a class the unhealthy stereotypes and gender roles both genders face and
how we overcome them.
