Reflection Paper Assignment

The first of the three objectives I would like to focus on is, “Approach new computer-based tasks more

easily and with greater confidence.” Going into this class I was very nervous because I knew very little

about computers and could only perform very basic tasks. As this class comes to an end, I have gained a

greater understanding and I am able to navigate a computer better than I could 15 weeks ago! This class

has helped me in not only my schooling but in my job as well! One of my favorite modules included the

Excel activity. I had absolutely no idea how to work excel going into the module and I was able to merge

cells, learn functions, and use formulas to calculate some numbers! I absolutely loved what I learned in

that module and can say I gained some confidence in me excel abilities. In this learning activity will help

me if I ever have a project using excel, it would be a great resource for setting up a budget planner, and I

just started a new job that requires excel knowledge. I am grateful for the opportunity to gain some

background and basic knowledge about excel before starting my new job!

Another goal I would like to focus on is, “Locate, open, and use the following software applications at an

intermediate level: email, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, web page development, internet

search strategies, and Canvas course management system.” I feel like this goal was achieved the word

processing module, the PowerPoint module, and the Google Drive module. I loved all three of these

modules and learned a ton that will help me with the rest of my classes! Going into the word processing

module I knew more about Google docs than I did Word. I knew basic skills such as changing the font

and its size, checking the grammar, and other little things like that! I really liked learning about accent

marks, special characters, leaving comments, or creating a table! I think this module was eye opening to

me how user-friendly Microsoft is if I just took the time to learn how to work it! From here going out I

would much prefer to use Microsoft word over Google docs because I know some tips and tricks that can

help me save a significant amount of time with my assignments! The same thing could be said about

using PowerPoint, I had been using Google slides ever since it came out and never really used

PowerPoint, after going through the activity I found a lot more things I could do in PowerPoint to make

my presentations stand out amongst others! I think this activity will help me whenever I need to do

presentations because I can be more creative and use an active button which is my favorite thing I learned

about!

The last goal I would love to focus on is, “Create a web-based personal portfolio showcasing learning

over the semester.” I wish this is something I did in everyone of my classes. I loved the felling of creating

something all by myself! By spending a little amount of time on my portfolio each week, looking through

it at the end has brought me so much joy! I loved the ability to be creative and make something that I can

show to others to describe myself and showcase my skills.

I am truly grateful for the opportunity to take this class and grateful for the skills I gained throughout it!

Being good with computers is something I lacked and can honestly say now that I am confident with how

I can navigate and can not wait to continue learning all technology has to offer!
