Flexible epoxy concrete system for civil engineering application

DESCRIPTION Mirapox 4122 A is a medium viscosity, grey epoxy resin. When combined with
Mirapox 4122 B, and specially formulated aggregates, it formed into a flexible
epoxy concrete system for the construction of wide nosing joints on bridges,
car park garages and buildings. Mirapox 4122 system has been formulated to
have good bond with asphalt and concrete wearing surface providing tough,
flexible and good abrasion resistant joint.

ADVANTAGES Mirapox 4122 A/B exhibits the following outstanding characteristics:

 Excellent overall physical and mechanical properties,

 Practically non-toxic,
 Good all round chemical and water resistance,
 Very good adhesion to concrete and asphalt with proper pre-treatment
 100 % solid epoxy system
 Simple joint design and easily constructed
 Level can be adjusted during application.
 Good overall flexibility
 Smoother and quieter ride at all speeds on bridge decks
 Complete waterproof joint.

SUPPLY Mirapox 4122 A/B consists of two component (resin and hardener)

- 4122 A = Liquid epoxy resin

- 4122 B = Liquid hardener

STORAGE Resin and hardener should be stored at 18-250C and in their original sealed
containers. The hardener must be kept away from any exposure to humidity
and should always be stored well sealed.
Both components will be in usable condition for 12 months.

MIXING Mirapox 4122 A/B is supplied in pre-weigh quantity to avoid mistakes on site.
However if smaller quantity is required, a good weighing scale should be used
to weigh out the quantity of material. Mixing is performed using a slow
mechanical mixer. Using a circular stirrer attached to the mixer is
recommended for minimal air inclusion during mixing. The mixed Mirapox 4122
epoxy resin must be used up within its pot life.

SURFACE To achieve strong joints, it is essential that the joint surfaces are dry,
PREPARATION mechanically sound and free from contamination, such as oil or grease.
Concrete can be conveniently prepared by grit blasting or wire brushing to
remove all the laitance until the main aggregate appears. Primer 5095-1 A/B is
then applied before the application of Mirapox 4122 A/B.

SAFETY Contains epoxy which may cause skin irritations. Use disposable gloves for
PRECAUTIONS added protection. If contact with eyes, wash thoroughly with running water
and seek medical help. For further details, please refer to the safety data
sheets.
